The Rolex Spoons

I own 4 Rolex spoons and I usually use to stir my coffee or mix my cocoa and marshmellows. I never really hear you guys talk about them. What is the story on the Rolex spoon? Why did Rolex make spoons?

The story I'm familiar with is they were offered as 'purchase gifts' by Bucherer when customers bought Rolex watches. Bucherer is the Swiss retailer of Rolex watches that pretty much is the dominant AD in that entire country. If I remember the story correctly, the spoons weren't made by Rolex, but were sanctioned for the logo and Swiss scenes carved into the spoons.

I don't think they've been handed out for about 10+ years, at least.

At least, that the version I was told.

Thanks, so when I have relatives over for freshly brewed coffee and they ask me about the cool Rolex spoons, I have a story to tell. Thanks

My mother has a whole set of these little Rolex spoons. I don't think they are made by Rolex at all but rather a logo product. She purchased them at a gift shop during her trip to Switzerland about 5 years ago. The gift shop is close by the Rolex factory.

Yeah!! I've got one at home, a teaspoon. Kinda tiny, but because it has been around for a long time, never really thought about it.

My wife uses it to stir her morning coffee, mostly.

That is 100% correct sir, given away free if asked for, more of a promotion thing, and at at one time the name Bucherer was on some Rolex dials in the early years. You can still pick up the small silver spoons for around $15 -$20.

Rolex spoons

Hi Mikey

The spoons were available in most of the Bucherer stores in Switzerland, I used to visit Switzerland quite often, over the years.

It was not unusual for a spoon to be given on request, in fact without a purchase!

I built up quite a collection, they had different designs on them, indicating a geographical or historical link to the Bucherer store, I picked mine up in the 70's and 80's.

Regards.

Barry

My sisters and brothers know I am a Rolex freak, so when they look for a spoon to eat with for whatever event. They know the Rolex spoon is connected to me.

I've got a few too. I think they're cool.

I was throwing some junk away about a month ago, and threw 3 in the bin, complete with boxes as shown above.

Luckily my wife spotted them, and they were saved!

Just imagine how many Rolex items have been "accidently" thown away.
