Gents 18k rolex datejust with diamond dial and bezel
Look at the back of this watch... is that the way the bracelet is supposed to attach to the case back??

Yes, i believe it is. After-market dial and bezel disclosed which imo are not very good one's. Shabby condition though and pretty ugly imo!

I hear you that the dial and bezel are aftermarket... but please tell me you are not serious about the back of that case?? Rolex actually had those raised sort of half oval hunks on the back?? Wouldn't that get uncomfortable and leave marks???

Just so I understand..
you think these are original to the watch and that Rolex did this?
At least I'm getting better with the pictures ;-)

No problem. I think it's because of gold being a lot softer than steel and needing more security/stiffness to hold the bracelet securely.

That isn't the case anymore though correct? I have been looking at pearlmasters lately, both WG and YG of different sizes, and I haven't noticed them... I think I would have...at least.

If the dial is aftermarket and it has the crown and Rolex doesn't that make this a trademark infringement?
As for the endlinks I've seen those on many 18K solid gold bands that are market as "Italian Custom" aftermarket or replacement. Again if that has the crown that would be a trademark infringment. |

I get the idea that the dial is genuine with after-market diamonds.
There are 3 types of DD end link by Rolex i'm aware of. The newer, current smooth type, the type in this thread and another older type used on vintage pieces. |

One thing is for sure...that watch has had a hard life...the endlinks are real. Rolex stuck them out like that because gold is soft and they will bend and break...I bet that bracelet looks like one of those old twistoflex band when its not supported.

They are recessed by the back and curve of the watch head and don't come into contact with the skin. Just the weight of the gold leaves a mark but not from that part of the band.
