New benchtop organizer
I picked up a nice little organizer for the watch bench.
I love it already! I'm taking one of these watches apart tonight. This should be fun! |

You went through alot of trouble with your bench setup and tools selection to do something that I can do with a $5 household hammer! Just stop by the shop and I will give you a free lesson on how to "fix" your new Sub.

Great Paul.... I don't think he's doing the just to destroy watches, as you are insinuating, he's doing it to learn. If I'm correct Paul, you learn best by doing things, kinetic learning. |

Mark..That was good I wouldn't spend $5 on a hammer to smash a $1 watch! Maybe I should just lay them on a train track, and put them out of their misery |

I learn by doing things by hand over, and over. I read the lesson in full, and then work on the watch. When something confuses me, I take a time out to read everything again. I like to take a watch down 5 times before moving to another. They realized when I was in the Air Force that I learn by looking at drawings, pictures, and walking through the hands on portion. I failed a test, and then a practice test in the begening of Technical school. Since I loaded ordinance on the jets, we had so much to learn. The instructors pulled me ito the office to explain that if I failed another test, I would fall back to another class. They asked me if I studied at night, and slept good. They asked about any home sickness, or other reasons why I would want to go home. The next hour was what changed everything! I told them I studied 2 hours a night, and got 8 hours of sleep. In an attempt to show them I had tried, I went to the dry erase board, and drew each bomb, and missile and labeled each part. When I finished drawing the munition, I would erase it, and draw the next. I had even finished the next weeks work, and drew the parts of the jet, and weapons system. As proof I pulled my note book out, and showed them all of my drawings, and did them over, and over until I had them memorized. The instructor gave me a pat on the back. He told me he knew what was going on. He said I was the most obvious kinetic learner he had seen in 5 years of teaching. We left the office in a hurry, and went to the class. He told the entire group to pack up. We were setting the class up in the aircraft hanger. We went over the systems by hand first, and then did the class portion. I made 95% or higher on every test for the next 3.5 months. I couldn't believe how much it changed my ability to learn. Sorry to ramble, but Nicko, your an instructor, aren't you? You picked up on it quick. |
