Seriously? You think the pressure from hot tub jets exceeds the equivalent of 300m?

If a $50 dollar Casio can do it, a $8,000 Rolex can.

My swimming pool in AZ would approach 100F. I can't imagine a couple of extra degrees would make that big a difference. 102-104 just isn't that hot a temperature. A few bubbles in water mean nothing. There is no scientific reason why a Rolex can't handle the environment of a hot tub. If it can't Rolex needs to go back to the drawing board. If someone considers a hot tub an extreme environment then they need an education beyond what they've got.

To what the OP is saying, I think at some point we all are concerned about messing up these luxury items in some way or another. But, Rolex is designed to take a beating in various forms such as in that YouTube video linked. Except by maybe a hammer of course lol

The only thing I'd be iffy about taking it into is a steam room, as I could see that being a potential issue much quicker given vapors vs standard liquid. The heat should be fine, its not 500 degrees haha.

Typical steam room temperatures are 110 to 116F, in other words AZ on a rainy afternoon (monsoon season). Again, no issue.

Yeah, that makes sense because steam molecules are smaller than water molecules.

That was about 6 months ago. The dude boiled his white gold sub.

On another note, this entire thread is ridiculous. Op, your watch is fine. These things are over-engineered and were built as tools for adventurers. Your hot tub excursion isn’t very impactful to the oyster case.

A watchmaker once told me its bad idea to wear your watch in a hot tub or sauna. The rubber gasket is prone to be damaged.

Enjoy, but I question the judgement of doing these activities with a watch such as this. Just like I question the judgement of those who wear these when doing PT (physical training) or showering. Not an issue of whether it can take the "beating" :)

100 degree water and hot tub jets?

The Sub can do that with its hands tied behind its back.

The only activity I ever even wonder about wearing my Sub during is target shooting and golf. And, I didn't say I don't wear it during those activities. I just might give it a second thought.

I'm never, ever taking my Sub into a hot tub. Not happening.

Hot tubs are for my Ironman - and that's only because it's cheap and I've already got my g-shock, which is probably the toughest of the bunch anyway.

Seriously, who would do this? It's so easy to figure out why that would be a bad idea.

So I went in a hot tub against my better judgment

Seriously??? Water pressure? Do you know the PSI of the ocean at 300m? You are worried about your trip-lock crown? The same one in the DSSD that goes to 3900 meters (or 5656 psi)?

Jump back in baller.

However, I doubt Rolex would recommend this or cover a watch under warranty that was damaged in a hot tub. And I don’t believe they are tested to be exposed to these conditions. I’m not overly concerned over the heat or chemicals. But the high powered jets are a different story. I mean, what if a hot tub jet accidentally blasted the watch right around the crown area? That’s a lot of pressure. I suppose just be careful but seems like a risk, do you think?

Just out of curiosity, what did you use to take this photo?

Taking some kind of camera with you to a hot tub obviously doesn't bother you, why worry about a watch?

But is it safe to watch the demonstration with my watch on?

What about the chemicals in the hot tub (including pee ), will it tarnish the finish of the watch?

the steel Rolex uses is more corrosion resistant so you see it a lot with the chemical industry vs regular steel. Is it necessary for a watch? probably not.

I suspect if its going to be dangerous for your watch i would be more worried about what it was doing to my skin

The hot water and metal reaction to it is more of a concern. Pressure and jet force don’t worry me as much as the structure of the watch changing due to metal expansion. A combination of all 3 is more worrisome

I was once told you had to press the stop button on a compact disc before going in reverse.
