I tip my hat to you guys who wear the sub to the hot tubs. I know the watch can handle it and nothing will happen but my watch OCD tells me to wear a g-shock instead. I am in the hot tub/sauna/steam room to relax. I don’t want to worry about sources of damage to my watch.

That’s a lot of pressure, expect there would be more pressure coming from ones ars# after a good curry than from a hot-tub.

TRF: My sub is a “tool watch”! So tough!

Also TRF: “These hot tubs are dangerous to my fragile sub!”

Do you know what a 1000’ rating means? It is essentially 30 1/2 atmospheres of pressure. In other words, at sea level you have 1 atmosphere of pressure on you. Do you honestly think a hot tub jet produces anywhere near 30 ATM of pressure? I think that sub will survive.

I honestly have no idea. I'm not exactly sure how it all works. I also don't know if there is a difference between "pressure" and a powerful jet of water hitting the watch. I just noticed that the massive hot tub at the hotel had some extremely powerful jets and it got me wondering. But I appreciate the reassurance!

its 440 pounds of pressure per square inch which is 30ATM, so not a very enjoyable jet

The jets aint going to damage your watch. There's a lot of water being moved around in a hottub, much more than say a pressure washer.

So I'd be surprised if the water pressure of the Jets are more than 6-7 bar. A sub is rated at 30 bar.

If a hottub jet was 30 bar, you'd be dead.

You could do this to a DJ in 1973. Presumably a modern Sub could handle it too.

And I don't believe the simple jets in a hot tub are enough to do any damage, so long as your seals are in good order.

So- generally it's no big deal to bring your Rolex in the hot tub.

I believe it was 2018 but maybe 2017, But someone on TRF did it with their sub. It was a pretty in depth thread.

If the seals are good then you should have nothing to worry about

Right after I bought my first Rolex Air-King I was stuck with the decision to either wear it into the hot tub or leave it off the wrist in someone else's hotel room.

I wore it into the hot tub and all was fine! It looked great in the water as well.

Just make sure the crown is nice and tight, I make sure its a little tighter than usual when I go in.

X2.

You could put your watch in to a boiling kettle and it wouldn’t do anything.

No need to overtighten the crown.. just stopping when you feel resistance is good enough. It wont make any difference, the triplock seals on newer models protect it well.

I’m not overly concerned over the heat or chemicals. But the high powered jets are a different story. I mean, what if a hot tub jet accidentally blasted the watch right around the crown area? That’s a lot of pressure. I suppose just be careful but seems like a risk, do you think?

OMG! Both you and the watch survived?!!!??!?!? That's a fantastic story! Tell it again!
