I like the 5712r as stated but I would rather have the Elephant and 5712a. I like my Pateks slim and my APs muscular and my Rolexes in between and now my wrist is trained to my preferences, I don't notice the difference any more, so give it some time, you will adapt.

I would choose an Elephant any day over the 5712

I happen to like light watches. Weight doesn't equate to quality for me. I'd take the 5712 in a heartbeat. The dial is quirky, which I think is part of its charm. Weight is probably why I like the carbon fiber cases from AP.

I really like both pieces, but I'm very quickly becoming a hardcore AP guy.

PJ hit the nail on the head....I was trying to fill a void in my collection.
I have a 15305 OR for dress and a 15707 CE for sport. I was looking for something in the middle.
I do have a VC Overseas, JLC Duometre, Zeitwerk and others but I was looking for something a bit more sport/dress as a 3rd AP.
Don't get me wrong the Elephant is a beautiful watch but I don't find myself picking it up in the watch rotations.
I really really like the 15707 and it's carbon case.
The weight of all my watches does carry some substance to them, that is why I was so surprised at the lightness of the 5712. I've lusted for the 5712 for some time, but I may have to consider the 5726 or other Nautilus model. I just
don't like the cutouts for the date in the beautiful dial.
Decisions, decisions.....

Not sure about the exact weight difference

Patek website says the 5712 movement Is 31 mm diameter, 3.98 mm height. The 5726 movement is 33.3 mm diameter, 5.78 mm height. I didn't see proper case dimensions (maybe because it's their mobile site)

Notably you get 120m WR with the 5726 but 60m WR with the 5712

Are you going for a 5712? I hope from an AD if so now.

I prefer the look of the 5712, I just hate the clasp.. feels cheap and flimsy.

Indeed. Clasp on the 15202 is far better. I thought PP would improve that for a 40th makeover but that’s a dead horse subject at this point.

I like the seamlessness of my 5711 clasp but wish it wasn't quite so rigid, there again my Aqua clasp has popped open once or twice after I didn't secure it perfectly in a rush.
