The Champagne thread.

What's your favourite?

We regularly treat ourselves to a bottle or two of Champagne, 'Bubbly', 'Fizz', 'Champers'....call it what you will.
Taittinger has been our usual 'go-to'. This Christmas we fancied a change and plumped for a Magnum of Laurent Perrier, which saw us through the day, very nicely.
A couple of bottles of the delicious Perrier-Jouet accompanied us through New Years eve.

Whilst technically not a champagne, this Napa sparkling wine is our go-to for celebrations worthy of some extra pomp: https://www.vivino.com/US/en/chandon...uvee/w/1169759 I'm a big proponent of buying as local as possible.

Always been a fan of Veuve... tastes very good (to me) and more reasonably priced than others.

Also a fan of Freixenet and Costco/Kirkland Prosecco. Both work just as well as the higher end options and taste far better than their $15 and less price range.

I always preferred the old Moet white star, but they stopped making it.

So, this year went to Tattinger, as I think it's also quite nice.

You are right. Veuve Clicquot is my favorite as well. The taste is smooth and it never gets old drinking it. I have always a few bottles at home.

My new favorite thread.

DP P2 2002 is my favorite to date. Big Moet fan. PJ is a favorite, can occasionally find on sale for around $45 and stock up, makes for a great dinner companion. Last year I went on a buying spree of grower champagne and cremant, which has been lovely.

I’m with you, this might be the best thread on the whole forum!

Surely there are many of us on here that love bubbles just as much as watches. I haven’t had the 2002 P2 but the 2003 was a fantastic bottle as well. Add me to the Moet club.

Otherwise Cristal Rosé Salon 59, the only champagne I remember having any pleasure drinking.

Great thread Steve

Andrea and I love our red wine mainly with food and a cocktail before dinner (usually a Martini), so we haven’t really gotten into Champagne over the years …

If we are jonesing for something a little different, we do like a Lambrusco prior to dinner every now and then.

It’s headache in a bottle though, ask me how I know

Never had the Coquillette, I'll keep an eye out for it.

The wreckage of a very small, at home, lunchtime drinks session over the Christmas weekend.
(The Ruinart was, by consensus, the better wine.)

WineAccess is my resource for grower/independent champagnes. I bought several last year at a spectacular price but they are sold out now.

Just discovered this, in the cellar, a survivor of a 1996 family celebration.
Not sure whether to drink it now, sell it or keep it.

I think for pricey stuff it’s hard to beat Cristal. Medium range I tend to gravitate towards Billecart-Salmon.

Sparkling domestic Schramsberg is the easy choice however there are some interesting small house choices like John Anthony Vineyards.

I rather like Pol Roger. Unlike Churchill, I don't drink a pint of it a day though

Shipment arrived today ..much needed to restock the cave after holiday season. One of my favorites. So reasonably priced it should be served at every meal lol.

After a recent trip to Reims, I realized the best stuff doesn't leave France. There are so many smaller producers making really, really good champagne. My favorite from the trip was by far a bottle of Georges Remy we had, he makes 2,000 bottles a year, it was fantastic. I also really liked the Vilmart we had. Other memorable bottles from the trip included Pascal Doquet, Agrapart, and Vouette et Sorbee. With all that said, I greatly enjoyed the tour of Pommery we took, 18km of chalk caves, and 25MM bottles in those caves, pretty amazing. Hard to argue with a good bottle of Bollinger though.

If you give me a choice, I’ll choose vintage Krug every single time lol.

This was the best bottle I’ve ever had though. More recent EO bottles I had were lacking.

Dom on special occasions
Taittinger and Pommery are two of my favorites. I enjoy Mimosas made with quality California sparkling wine.

My grandparents loved LR Crystal Rose and Veuve Cliquot but I never developed a taste for them. I'm so terrible that I enjoy Asti Spumante, probably one of the cheapest sparkling wines out there.
