Look at all of 'em coming out of the woodwork to "help" our friend here. They have even provided phone numbers. All with one post under their belt and an itchy palm. Be carful, very careful of those who lurk and post. This site is cross ref'd all over the place.

That being said what Nicko just posted has a LOT of merit. If this watch is in fact genuine people have been killed for a lot less money. I'm just an old cop and DoD intel analyst trying to educate the OP- not on the watch but on what could be a serious threat to safety. |

I know SFA and he's not a creep trying to pull a fast one. The safety of the OP is on his mind and nothing else. Well maybe with the exception of hot women, but that's off the subject. I really wish this turns out happy for the OP!!! Can't wait to see what happens next! |

Hi. All,
I just want to say thank you for all your cynical and somewhat helpful advice. Everyone can rest easy, as I put the watch in my safe deposit box today. Jeanne |

Whoa, while folks were a bit skeptical at first (and justifiably so), I think you got some good advice here. I agree that you need to now take the watch to an expert and have them inspect it in person. There's only so much one can do with blurry photos on a computer screen.

I'm keeping everything I have 2 of crossed that it turns out to be the real deal.
Not only for the financial gain of the OP but to see a piece of Rolex history like that being rescued from oblivion. |

Thread of the decade if not century...but it seems the watch still has not been officially authenticated and now will be kept in a safe somewhere without knowing provenance, kinda strange.

I have to tell you that I was freaked out by all the pay this watch received.
All of you have been extremely kind. I thank you, especially Ken I don't know if it is real, but in my heart want to believe it, if only to show you that there are really honest people out there. I will be having the watch authenticated and let everyone know the results. Let's all keep our fingers crossed. Jeanne |

GGGRRRRR!!! I couldn't stop reading this thread! And here I am at the end, with no conclusion. It's like when a season of Mad Men is over and I have to wait 6 months to find out what's next... The suspense is killing me!!!

Update please??? I wouldn't be able to sleep at night until the watch was fully authenticated and in the hands of Bob Ridley for a restoration. Congrats on your find. I believe the watch to be authentic. Please take it to an expert and prove me right!!!

Hard to believe something like this got through an auction for only $350, especially when half the population's carrying around web-browsing phones to research great finds, but I guess the fact that a few still slip by keeps some of us going to the auctions, thrift stores, pawn shops, checking craigslist, etc. I hope it's the real deal!

How does a 1 in 30 watch end up with a cyclops sapphire crystal? How did it even fit?
I hope this is the real deal, but with such a watch, who would have done this to such a rare find? Bezel insert also seems a bit off (pearl area, font size/shape), but could be replacement. |

Not to hijack the thread, but if in the event that the watch is a collection of different rolex watch elements, I would def. like to buy that dial if you're ever interested. Man, if this is real...wow. I've only been on the board a little while, but after reading through the last 5 pages.
