Thank you Boopie, and thank you again everyone else, I really appreciate all the support. Oh, and I'm only 48 Boopie, so (hopefully) will be living quite a while longer. I am praying, (literally) that it is what I was diagnosed with before, CPPS, and not cancer. The odds are somewhere around 50-50 right now, with my test results, my age, no cancer in my family, all that stuff weighed in, the testing continues.

Thank you again everyone, the pain is bad, but it's more the fear that gets to me. A lot of you understand and I can't tell you how much I appreciate all the kind words people have sent me.

Let's hope that the second possibility is the correct diagnosis, Paul.

I was diagnosed with testicular cancer in 2007. I underwent surgery and radiation therapy. In 2008 they thought it had returned in my mediastinum (lymph nodes in my chest cavity) and lungs, but after two surgical biopsies diagnosed that it was something different (and for me, harmless) causing the growths - which went away on their own.

It sounds like you have been a diligent patient and my hope is that it was caught early. Early detection of any cancer is the goal. There have been so many advances in cancer treatments, i.e., cures over the last 30 years it is amazing.

For example in the 70's, Testicular Cancer was a 98% death sentence. Now they are almost 98% curable, depending on which one you have. Lance Armstrong had the absolutely WORST kind of testicular cancer you could have. They didn't catch it until it had spread to his lungs and brain and he was still cured after some serious chemotherapy and a brain surgery.

The type of TC I had was the absolute best kind of cancer one could get, if you have to get cancer. It was 99% cured after the surgery and the radiation therapy was a preadjuvant option that I went for to possibly wipe out any micrometastisis. I even emailed Dr. Lawrence Einhorn, Lance Armstrong's Doctor with the details of my diagnosis, biopsy results, and he actually emailed me back several times with his advice - which I shared with my Doctors. Normally a Doctor might find that insulting, but Dr. Einhorn is the BEST in the field of testicular cancer, so they were actually impressed that I wrote him and that he answered.

The bottom line is that "if" you do end up with cancer, prostate cancer is highly "curable" and secondly, you are your OWN best advocate. Do your own research and if you don't like what you're hearing - you can ALWAYS get a second opinion.

God-forbid, but if you are diagnosed with prostate cancer, please remember that it CAN BE BEAT!

Paul I am sure everything will work out. The most important thing is that you are facing it head on. Early diagnosis is important regardless of what condition it turns out to be. I will send my best vibes your way.

Courage, bro. I just saw this thread and elected to read it.

(and thank you for your kind words in the past).

"Not a man like you."

I pass to you the follow remark from a recent movie. It has been adopted by both the FDNY, and I have also sent it as a msg of courage (i hope!) to people in difficult times:

Here's hoping for the best, Paul. My family has a history of it, and although I don't have to worry about it for present, it is a threat I'll have to deal with in the future. All of TRF will be rooting for you

My father had surgery six years ago and he's still in the clear. Weekly blood work and regular PSA checks. Living an hour & 15 minutes from the Mayo Clinic is a bonus.

I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer a few years ago. Cancer is a scary word, but it is treatable. Diet, exercise, and a positive attitude go a long way.

Best of luck Paul! It's highly treatable when discovered early and I think from what I read you have been looking after yourself nicely. So cheer up!

My prayers to you and your family. I know it's quite overwhelming to know that you have such a serious illness.14 years ago when I turned 40 ,I was diagnosed with leukemia and was told I might have less than 6 months to live.Well, by the Grace of God and great medical treatment, I am still here and enjoying life and watching my two children grow into amazing, wonderful young adults ! By no means was it easy but by living it by the moment and appreciating all that life gives you will give you the strength and courage to fight ! My family has had a lot of first hand experience with this illness, my mother, two brothers passed away and just recently and older sister was diagnosed with breast cancer.
I have never asked why us .... it's always been ,My Lord if this is a way of making me more aware of life ,then so be it !I guess what I'm trying to say is, Be at the "moment" Do not regret about the past ,that was yesterday... Do not worry about the future because that's tomorrow... Be happy and grateful for today, that's why it's called the present !
God Speed and God Bless !

Paul, I missed this thread over the weekend. Sorry to hear about your test results. I have had some health issues in the past and sometimes the initial tests turn out to be false positives. My thoughts and prayers will be with you.

I would advise anyone who has a blood test to ask the doctor to tick the PSA box on the test bag, the sooner this cancer is discovered the better.
