Official Patek-Pilot Appreciation Thread

New Shoes... custom made grey/blue goatskin with calfskin lining and hand stitching.

I think it picks up the blue on the dial really nicely

The blue strap looks lovely, a very nice change from the brown

I always feel a twinge of regret that I let my 5524 go whenever I see your photos.

it may be the only watch i can never let go. Its not my favorite watch (but its close) but its the only really irreplaceable one as far as collection diversity.

5524G has a dark blue dial. Did you mean the black dial? 5524T has a black dial and another version of 5524 with a black dial is rumoured to be in production for the grand exhibition in Singapore on 2019.

Digging this

This is the first 5524g this year in my AD.

Wonder how many pcs. they get per year. Any guess?

In our country, the demand is still high for this and waiting list is long relative to other new models the past 3 years like 5930g, 5960g, 5320g.

It seems more summer-ish to me. Probably keep it on until the fall where brown seems more appropriate.

Let's see it they play the scarcity game with this reference. LOL.
I remember Thierry said he won't produce a lot of these after he released it. It was criticised for being too IWC-ish, Zenith-ish, Shinola-ish.

I don’t think they know that Patek Philippe created an aviator watch before with the Ref: P0844 ( 56mm Oversized Aviator watch ) in 1936 and also the Ref: P1413 (James Packard’s Two Time Zone )that were both clearly inspirations of the new Ref: 5524g.

Unfair for Patek imo. Im becoming a Patek defender here.

Thanks for your enabling photos, Tyler.

its an interesting piece as it divides opinion. Its extremely hard to get from an AD, yet the premiums are not huge on the secondary market. IMO that makes it one of the only watches where supply is the closest to demand so they got it right. Ideally a Patek should be hard to get but not impossible and having only a modest premium makes this possible. There isnt a lot after this watch if you eliminate the flippers but that is what i love about it. Its quirky and different.

depends on country but its on the website in the big markets like the US. "suggested" price is what you will pay however as i have never heard of anyone getting a discount.

thats crazy. They could sell it at list in a day if they put one in the window which i have also never seen. Unless its a customer loyalty type of a discount its not necessary.

it is a customer loyalty discount but the AD owner told me that it took him four months to sell his previous 5524, which he had in his shop window for half the time.
he is now thinking of putting a 5170P into the window, which he has unsold since november 2017 or so. the 5235G is in is window already (two months at least), along with PCs, ACs and all that. according to him it is only the nautilus' and aquanauts that sell right away.
don't get me wrong i really like the 5524 (as well as the 5170P and the 5235G) but the sell-immediately thing is a myth, at least in central europe.
