Rolex clasp hinge rivet came off where to buy to replace?

Need help... Bought this Rolex Submariner clasp on Ebay and when it arrived I noticed the rivet is missing on the hinge of the clasp... He gave me a partial refund... Where can I buy a new bar and rivet to replace? Thanks...

Contact Rik @ Timecare. He's in FL and can fix it for you.

That "rivet" is nothing more than a piece of stainless steel rod with the ends hammered over (riveted).

There are probably a million places, including hobby shops, that have rod stock available and most any manufacturing jeweler can do the job.

I don't want to ship it out.. I saw this on ebay Is this the correct one? I just push it in and hammer in the rivet since it's a friction fit and that's it?

I'd measure the ends first. Also, the Rolex fold over lock has two washers on either side. Don't lose them, or you'll end up with a bunch of slack!

WOW I took a loupe and saw those little washers on each side, if you would've not told me I would've banged the pin out and lose the washers... Thank you...

Do you have any?

Not sure where to get just the washer. I've rarely had to replace them. I think I made the last one I needed.

These guys sell an aftermarket set. Cheap enough to pull the washers from I think if you wanted.

Ahh. These guys have the tube type.

Otherwise, you can get the solid pin and rivet them yourself.

@Pureform The heads on the frictions pins are overly large an unsightly. Doesn't look original at all and eventually comes part. Best to replace with an actual rivet made the old fashion way from a solid 1mm pin (rod). Send us a pm if you need help with this.

But, you should let a watchmaker install the correct pin to do it right. If Rik isn't near you then take Mike up on his offer. You need a solid pin, not a DIY band-aid.

Thanks for all the help but does anybody know where I can buy a rod or would like to send me one? I'm not a dealer so can't buy this stuff unless I have an account... Anybody out there want to help with a pin?

Rolex clasp hinge rivet came off where to buy to replace?

Retracted our offer. He laughed at us for offering to do it for $15. ($10 for the rivet and $5 labor) Anyone willing do it for less? We were way too high.

All work done in the good ol’ U.S. of A.

Lol buys submariner on eBay, won’t spend $15 for an actual watchmaker to take care of it with authentic parts.

No, and I’m pissed you’d offer to do it so cheaply.

The premade river will be much too narrow most likely. An oversized rivet will need to be formed. That takes time, especially if you want it to be thick enough to last a long time.

First of all I said I didn't want to send the clasp to get it fixed, when I can do it myself even though you offered to fix it for $15, so I asked you if you can sell me the pins... You offered $15 for one pin and I refused cause a watchmaker in my area said he can sell me 4 pieces for $15 authentic rolex pins just like you got pictured... But I decided to have the watchmaker do it and he charges $15 also and will throw in 3 spare pins to keep...

If I did it with you I would have to pay shipping to you and back, your labor charges and wait maybe 2 weeks or so to get it back... Total $30 or so... Watchmaker here will do it same day...

This was a private convo we had between eachother and you didn't see me come on here talking shit about you, just shows how professional you are.... If it was me and a fellow rolex enthusiast needed a measley little pin and I had one it would've been in the mail free of charge.... Have a great day.

On a side note, Rolex doesn't allow active parts account holders to sell spare parts. They risk losing their account if discovered.

Be very careful riveting the non-riveted side of the clasp in. Many “watchmakers” with experience manage to mangle the clasp during the riveting process.
