My daily wear is a 116233, ant the fluted bezel does grab attention. I got a compliment from a guy I know about the way the bezel catches the sunlight.

I specifically chose the smooth for its uniform shine as opposed to the twinkling sparkle shine of the fluted.

I used to daily my DJ. Believe it or not, there are only a few people who pays attendance to what watch someone else wears. So, wear what you feel like wearing!

(Now caveat is going to places with questionable characters. I will tell you that they will know your watch is valuable and you must be very careful.)

I wear my fluted DJ about five times a week. I’m not sure if it draws attention, but the bezel does create little light shows that I love. If you want a little less attention and more versatility, get it on an oyster.

The DateJust is the epitome of the daily “gentleman’s” watch, more so than watches meant for scuba diving and whatnot. Go for it.

Exact same reasoning I had for going with the smooth beze/Jubilee configuration. Looks great!

I wear mine everyday and everywhere. Work, hunting, fishing, touring, camping, offroading, even to the gym.

It never looks out of place, and only one person has ever said anything about it .... because he was wearing the same with a white dial! Wear what you want!

Having owned plenty of Rolex subs, GMT’s, Milgauss, etc in the past, and now a TT DJ41, I feel the DJ is the more dailyable watch. So comfortable on the wrist, out of my collection it is definitely the go-to watch. At work with a suit...no problem. In the paddling pool with the kids...no problem. I know DJ’s are Rolex’s bread and butter but I honestly don’t see many being worn, plus as there are so many configurations I think unlikely that you’ll bump into someone wearing the same watch. I see way more Sub’s and GMT’s.

I have a DJ36 as a daily that I purchased back in January. At first I was maybe slightly wondering if anyone would notice. I found people in general are not watch spotters. Has yet to be noticed, as far as I’m aware.

Totally agreed. An iconic Rolex with real heritage and horological significance, that is rugged and waterproof, and dresses up or down. So many combinations that anybody can find one that fits their personal style perfectly with little effort, they epitomize style "sprezzatura." They are readily available, and deals can be had if you look.

The only bright spot in the current professional series shortage is the abundance of Datejusts available, with prices mostly unscathed by the bubble. I think they were always there, just overlooked for the professional series. I love the professional series watches like anybody else, but Datejusts are just cool, period. Hopefully they don't suddenly become the new hotness, and dry up, too.

The DJ could be worn for work and casual. It's so under-the-radar in every way.

May be under-the-radar, but that is a seriously beautiful DJ, friend. Wow.

DJ is a great daily watch, and the fluted bezel is beautiful. I actually wear a sub as my daily. Either works for me.

Personally, I feel like a fluted bezel DJ is the prototypical Rolex. More than the Sub actually.

When the average public thinks of a Rolex, a DJ is what they see in their mind.

It’s a watch that can be worn pretty much everywhere and not be out of place.

This is my daily beater. To answer your question, no I do not think fluted bezel attracts any more attention then any other Rolex. There are so many watches by other brands with fluted bezel that look very similar to the Datejust. In my opinion a Submariner attracts just as much attention and is just as iconic for Rolex as a Datejust maybe even more.

DJ definitely is a little more flashy and blingy. Especially with the fluted bezel and a jubilee bracelet. If thats what you like then go for it. I personally prefer a sport model.

DJ is a great daily watch, comfy and practical... not an attention grabber by any means in either fluted or dome bezel.

The Datejust goes well with everything. I wear mine to work, play, camping, offroading, hunting, fishing, and everything in between.

I agree. I’ve just bought a 16234 for daily use - to give my 1680 a rest from almost daily duty for the past four years.

Excuse the scuff on the strap. Took this picture specifically to ask for answers on how to avoid getting it scuffed.

My 16233 was my only Rolex for 11-12 years. I wore it daily - swimming, golf, sailing, work, etc. I still have it but I'm retired and it's a bit flashy for where I live so it's no longer a daily wear for me. I mostly rotate between my other two Rolex sports watches and my Speedmaster. I do wear the 16233 on occasions where I'm in a coat and tie.

What year is this from?

It has polished lugs and a tapestry dial? How is that possible?

I don’t really have a “daily wearer”... I switch every week or so, DJ, GMT, OP, and even my SMP, but I like wearing my 16233. I mostly wear shorts and tank tops and still wear a TT Datejust!

Have a 116234 as a daily and it works perfectly with a suit. Furthermore it can be worn in a more casual manner with jeans or shorts. Dont believe that the fluted bezel draws any signifiant attention - most people dont even know what the watch is and probably think its a DW
