My late father wore his fluted bezel, jubilee, TT 16013 as his daily wearer for over 15 years until he passed away. My Mum gave the watch to me about 3 years after he passed away and I then wore it as my daily wearer for another couple of years, until I started to worry about wearing it daily for sentimental reasons.
However, a decade or more later and I've started to alternate wearing it as a daily with my Tudor Black Bay, as I know my old man would hate to think of it just sitting there in the safe for the past 10 years and thereafter.
A watch to him was meant to be worn and enjoyed, not be a safe queen.

I wear my Date with fluted bezel daily and the only time anyone noticed and said something was when a gentleman across the table from me noticed the clasp as I passed him something. Most people care less about watches. In most cases it's me who says "nice watch" to start a conversation.

I have the tapestry face on my datejust. It is my alltime favorite.

I wear my TT DJ41 as a daily regardless of attire. Despite the number of great photos of DJs you will see, I think this is one watch (with the Day Date and Skydweller included) where photos just don't do it proper justice - the beauty of the fluted bezel is hard to capture in a still image.

I currently switch off between a DJ and a DD, both with fluted bezels. I love them!

A fantastic watch. Mine 30 years ago this month and it's new. I use it daily. It does not attract so many looks.

I wore a 36mm two-tone Datejust every day for over 35 years. For the first 20 or so years, I worked in an office and wore a suit everyday. However, I continued to wear the DJ after I went home and changed into my jeans and also on weekends. Even after the office went to business casual with khakis and polo shirts, I continued to wear my DJ because that was the only watch I owned except for a Casio running watch I wore when jogging.

In my opinion from personal experience, it was not the fluted bezel that made the watch stand out, but rather the gold in my two-tone DJ. However, to me, it was also the gold that dressed up the watch so it could be worn with a suit. Back in the late '70s when I bought the DJ, I was told a Rolex was a sports watch because of the metal bracelet and I should buy a gold, or at least a two-tone, to wear it properly with a suit. Whether that was actually true or not, I believed it. By the time the office went casual I had worn the watch for so long, perceptions and trends changed, plus I didn't care.

I'm sort of struggling with this when thinking about my next purchase. I'm dead set on a 34mm Date in black, but the bezel has me torn. Wearing a green 114200 at the moment and it's great, but could us a little more, I don't know..."umph" at the smaller size.

I wore my fluted bezel DJ every day for over 30 years. Nobody ever noticed or didn't care, take your choice.

Specifically bought my 16220 recently to be a daily wear for the office. I just find the 36mm size and the look to be a perfect accompaniment for a suit. My Seamaster 300m served me well before but I just wanted something a little more subtle. As for my Panerai, no way is that sitting comfortably under a tailored cuff!

I bought my DJ2 from Watchfinders and absolutely love it but have noticed the bezels on my watch don't seem as sharp as others ive now seen. I think Watchfinders (or the previous owner) may have polished it too vigorously. Is there anyway i can get the defined peaks back or am i worrying unnecessarily?

It’s my daily wear for sure. It’s the most diverse watch I own, can be worn with anything. I went with the smooth bezel and oyster bracelet so it looks great on the weekend or at the beach in addition to being at home in a work environment.

In process of picking up a 116234 to wear as a daily. Can’t wait. Should arrive next week; I’ll post incoming pics once in possession.

If you're the sort of guy that can rock a 'fluted' bezel, it doesn't matter if you're in a suit, t-shirt or board shorts. 'You' wear the watch ..

However, if you're having to think about it then maybe you might be suited to a smooth bezel

I am not someone who would feel comfortable with the fluted. Too much bling for me but they always look great on other people.

My new DJ41, too early to say if it will be my daily as I like to rotate although i see no reason why it couldn't be .

I have been wearing my Datejust as a daily, jubilee dial with jubilee bracelet and smooth bezel.
Have really enjoyed wearing it with T Shirts and jeans etc.

I think I am a bit sport watched out at the moment after years with them, so much so I think I am going to grab an Oyster 39mm in blue or rhodium, going even plainer.

The fluted bezel does look pretty soft compared to my blue dial DJ2. It’s clearly been buffed.
Come service time you could ask Rolex about a new replacement. They take your old gold fluted bezel as trade in to off set the cost.

It is an awesome watch

Part of it's "awesomeness" lies in its versatility. As noted by others it is a go anywhere do anything watch. It is a robust tough watch that is so light you don't even know it's on your wrist. The Datejust and it's smaller brother the OP are highly underrated. As also noted they come in many iterations. I have this fluted bezel, factory fresh from a RSC service on a jubilee bracelet that is a bit more dressier than other iterations I have with the smooth rounded bezel. In all the rage about the Rolex Professional or Sports models these are often bypassed and they shouldn't be.

Datejust 116233

I’ve been wearing my DJ 24/7 sometimes I cover it with a long sleeve because I’m sometimes self conscious about it being too flashy when I wear casual clothes. Anyone have opinions about daily wearing it with normal clothes?
