Life changes…

I am heartbroken today. I’ll have to take my best friend to the vet tomorrow for her to be euthanised.

She’s 12 already, and her cancer has sadly metastasised, and it hurts me enormously to see her wither away. After the “procedure”, I’ve decided to take her myself to be cremated. I found a service with same day cremation.

I really don’t like the idea of leaving her in some fridge with other dogs to be collected at a later date.

There’s nothing I can do. Before she’s in too much pain & discomfort we decided to let her go. What a hard decision this is. Life sucks sometimes. It really does.

Life changes…

My most sincere and heartfelt condolences to you and your family. Your post brought tears to my eyes. I know I will have to deal with this sooner than later with my boy and I’m down right terrified of it.

She is a gorgeous girl and Lets rejoice in knowing she won’t be in pain. She will be in perfect health, enjoying afterlife over the rainbow bridge always waiting and watching over you until you both meet across that bridge.

God speed. I am going to give my boy some extra head scratches and treats in her honor.

What is her name?

So sorry for your loss. Pets become family and it's hard to say goodbye. Like Mr. Goat, your post brought tears to my eyes as the day is soon approaching for our family as well.

Been there, yes, it sucks. Take some comfort in that she will no longer be in pain, fully restored health and in paradise. You will see her some day again at rainbow bridge

She's such a good dog.

It's incredibly painful to have to say goodbye, but hopefully you can take some consolation in knowing that you've given Betty the best life she could possibly ask for, and that even this final decision is one made from love and affection.

You've made her life as wonderful as she's made yours, and those memories will remain long after the pain of saying goodbye has subsided.

Such goodbyes hurt a lot, especially when it was your beloved companion and friend who was the first to greet you after returning from work and never got angry with you. I went through such a parting with my Bernese 5 years ago.

This day is fucking sad. Take care!

Thank you for the kind thoughts during such an emotional time!!

Take comfort in knowing you gave Betty a great life and eternal love. The selfless act of taking the heartbreak and pain to keep her as comfortable as possible is IMO the greatest love. Know she is a lucky girl.

I’m so sorry man. Just last night I had to put down my sweet girl Ruby. Only 8 years old but a nasty, aggressive mass cell cancer. I’m heartbroken and think that dogs really are man’s best friend. Wishing you comfort and peace to your sweet friend.

I'm sorry for your loss. A few years ago we had to have our cocker spaniel euthanized as the result of cancer too. He was 13 years old. It was hard.
As we struggled with the decision after many months of veterinary treatment and care our vet challenged us to ask our selves "are we keeping him alive for us or for him?". His point was to challenge us to consider his quality of life. Was he comfortable ? Was he in pain ? Was he getting better or worse ?
Sounds like you have asked yourself these very questions and arrived at the answer you know in your heart is best for your pet even though it is most difficult for you.

I feel for you. I know this pain and it's awful. 12yrs ago, at this point. Sacha's ashes remain with my ex, while his leash and shirt hang in my office still. It gets easier, eventually.
