Offshore Diver Crown Issues
I was wondering if anyone is having any problems with the crown on their Offshore Diver?
Mine backs out by itself after a couple of hours of wear even if I lock it down tight. Any suggestions? Or is this a common problem? Thanks! |

Never heard of this before - mine certainly doesn't.
Might be worth a trip to APSC... |

First I've heard of this. Either it's not getting screwed down properly or the treads are shot.

Well...i was going to bring it into APSC to get regulated next week. Running fast about 1 min. per day.
I guess I will have them take a look at the crown as well. Anyone ever use the Service Center in Taipei before? Thanks! |

I haven't had issues with the crown unscrewing on any of my APs. Once its fully screwed down I think it would be hard to overcome the tension to back itself out with normal wear. I'm sure APSC will get it sorted out for you.

sounds like the threads are stripped...happened to my omega smp a couple of times. Even today after multiple repairs/replacements...I am still hesitant to wear my Omega SMP swimming...

He lives in Taipei, so perhaps there's a service point closer than Florida?

Doing this gently should stop the threads from stripping. If they are stripped OP it will probably just need a new tube and crown so should be a cheap and quick fix. |

1 min a day? Wow... Mine was running abt 12secs faster a day, n I sent it in to check. Found out that watch was magnetized. APSC de-magnetized the watch n said its good to go now... I have been monitoring it now, think its abt 3-4secs slow per day now. :(

Any Diver owners experience this?
Bringing this thread back to life, curious on users experiencing this on the Diver? I have the most recent White/Blue dial and I have noticed that the internal bezel crown at 10 o’clock unwinds itself quite regularly. Not to the point that it ‘pops’ out and you can turn the bezel.
I will screw it down and then sometime later (could be hours or days) it will no longer be tightly closed but able to turn freely. This only happens on the bezel crown, not the time/date crown. Can’t tell if this is just because the position of the crown and the rubber/skin contact or if this is an issue specific to my Diver. I’m not swimming with this thing on anytime soon, would hate to have to send it in to Clearwater so soon! |

Strange issue...never had either crown come unscrewed, on my Diver or any other watch.

It only happened once to mine with the bezel crown when very new, but I hadn’t screwed it down tightly enough and assume the grippy rubber caused it to catch and roll on my jacket.
For info - when AP pressure test the diver it’s with crowns open.

I only own a RO and do not have experience with the divers, but that doesn't sound right for any brand or model. For this one, rather than read the forum, go back to your AD and have them make it right.

Doesn’t AP announce at SIHH? I’ve seen plenty of used divers with worn rubber crowns but I have no idea how that happens. I’m always careful when I handle mine and make sure the crowns are clean. So far mine are perfect after nearly 2 years. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I think CE crowns may be on the wish list, but don’t believe anyone has confirmed this for sure. Rubber is less fragile, so although ceramic hardware looks good it may not actually prove to be as practical or easy to wind as the rubber gives so much friction when in operation. After two years of daily use the crowns are both looking good without wear or becoming shiny. If you want CE, also consider a pre-owned ceramic diver (which would also be very high on the wish list for AP to reintroduce)
