As the eyes age, I appreciate even more a dial and hands that allow for quick time reading. current polar Exp II is pretty darn good for me.

Reasonable movement performance is 2 and legibility is a close 3. The "it" factor to make me want to pull the trigger is obviously number 1.

Greatly respect the brand, but I'm not sure many (if any) people on this forum are okay with that mess. If anybody is, they are unique and the world needs them, at least for the sake of discussion.

My 116509 is actually pretty good for reading the time, even with it’s highly reflective crystal.

But chronograph legibility is generally hopeless (unless in perfect light)

But I bought it because I love the watch. If I want an accurate automatic chronograph I’m buying a Zenith Defy El Primero 21 1/100th of a second, not a watch with 1/5th of a second graduations that beats 8 times a second…

My old 116515 with the chocolate dial was pretty, but practically useless as a device for telling the time. All RG hands on a chocolate dial was almost “what’s the point”

Not my pic but pretty accurate

dog pics or who cares? congrats!!! u love the watch - that's it period

I ended up selling my 5726 because I hated how small the date window was and felt overall the dial was hard to read. (although in this pic it looks totally legible lol)

If you don't jive with the dial, and it don't make you smile, then it don't fit yo style!

Absolutely. Feel like a dingus when I’m looking down for the time and cane make a thing out.

Legibility is one thing reality is another.

Is it 3:28 or just after 10 past 6?

Ask my seven year old granddaughter.

I think it matters, but it's not an end all be all factor. At the end of the day, being able to tell the time in one second versus two should not be a deterrent from buying a watch you like.

You make an interesting point.
But who has the authority here to put legibility at or near the bottom of the selection criterior?
It's entirely up to the individual and if said individual is presented with a beautiful GS that ticks the boxes in terms of the Grammar of Design and the individual doesn't like it they may choose to pass on it for personal reasons despite its own distinct charms.
See, that's the another way of looking at it

All covered exceptionally well with this 5522A reference.
Grest watch! It is my favorite!
