Icon20 UK stock no better ???

Even after the 10% price increases there's still no steel sports coming through .
The price increase doesn't seem to have slowed things down , demand etc and I wounder if another 10% is looming on the horizon ?

What's it going to take to get some stock back on the shelfs ?

I welcome you thoughts.

I'd say the opposite mate, apart from the D-Blue and the Daytona I've seen quite a few of the usual suspects pop up, don't get me wrong they are not all sitting in the window but it's better then it was.

Also greys like Watchfinder are only paying list now for the BLNR and below on the rest of the SS range apart the D-Blue and Daytona which are still above.

Just off the top of my head in the last two weeks I heard about
3x BLNR
2x Sub Dates
4x Sub ND'S
1x Sub LV
All available to calling or passing trade and no lists (or no one on a list willing to commit)

If the wait lists are as long as we are led to believe, then it should take a while to fulfil the pre orders before stock gets to see shop windows?

Perhaps Omega has clandestinely influenced the British government to halt the flow of Rolexes to Great Britain. Any other hypotheses?

I think they will come out more after Xmas, good chance for them to get rid of slow sellers and TT now.

From what I've seen, a lot more stock is coming through. It just isn't in display cases.

I visited an AD last week who had a delivery of pretty much every SS sports model except a white dial Daytona. Of course most/all were spoken for, but if deliveries like that keep coming through, it won't be too long until lists are cleared and some stock winds up in display cases.

It won't happen overnight of course, but from what I have seen and heard things are certainly getting better.

As others have already said, it is not a matter of no stock flowing into the UK market. It is just that most steel models continue to be relatively cheap in the UK (as compared to other markets, particularly the US!) so ADs continue to work through their wait lists and I am sure that some are still adding names to what were already long lists.

Think about this: if an AD has a list with 10 names for a Hulk, and they only get one per week, it wold take them 2.5 months to clear the list, and that's assuming they don't add any more names to it. Also, consider we are in the midst of the holiday shopping season.

I would say Spring may be a better time to go hunting: long after the holiday season, and ADs may have had a chance to clear some space in those wait lists. When I stopped by an AD two weeks ago, he had received a Hulk, which he showed me (it was still in the coffin!) but it was spoken for, and he had a few more names in his list.

I understand from friends of mine back in the UK the waiting lists are just the same. The 11% increase has made no difference. I know of 3 people trying to get the BLNR. I suppose if you are going to wear this watch for many years the extra 600 pounds has had no impact.

Same for the standard black GMT,
Apparently the No Date sub is very hard to find even since Nov 1st

Bear in mind as well ADs only get one shipment a month from Rolex, it's going to take a couple of deliveries to clear out the backlog that will have developed

Chaps

If you are selling a brand product, the first rule is never to overload the market.

The one big advantage for Rolex is that they are getting less people walking into their stores asking for discounts.

Rolex is beginning to resume its value once more and for them, that is a win as far as they are concerned.

Regards

Mick

I saw a no date Sub in Leicester Goldsmiths last weekend but it went quickly. Not much else apart from that though. Everywhere I've looked is very dry of SS models.

I did see a YG DD40 in Tarratt, never seen one before so tried it on and was told they only get rose and white gold usually.

Same here in Asia, finally the sport models are arriving and they are not flying off the shelves as they were 3 months ago. It did seem like sport model inventory was down for awhile.

that was what I said today at the AD when I thought they were being a little too confident

With Chinese New Year approaching I am sure the inventory will clear out one more time before the slow period (Feb-May).

My card is being holstered till then

It's called arbitrage I think. The same thing that drives big pharma nuts when a little pharmacy in Canada with controlled government pricing starts shipping into the USA to undercut the big pharma regulated market. Exchange rates and globalisation are the culprits in the UK and Australia too I would suggest. Cannot get a new sub in Australia unless you are prepared to wait. I bought 2nd hand. Cheers

Goldsmiths Nottingham Friday

4 X Milgauss
1 X Explorer (white)
3 X SS OP
Loads of bi-metal and blingy OPs.

Even popped in on the off chance they had a Sub or Daytona tucked away under the counter. I was treated like a mad man and all the staff fell about laughing

Berrys had 2 Explorers ( Black) and a TT Sub (black)

Most ADs have all these models. I think EXP2 is decent value but they still don't seem to be popular.

BLNR, SS Subs, AK, Exp1, LV and DaytonaC are the ones short in supply.

Waiting for a watch for 10 years is not an option at my age. Being older, the most I will wait for anything is 6 months. When you get old you realize how precious time is.

I was in my AD last week buying some other items and had a good chat with my contact who said the flow isn't getting an awful lot better, citing Rolexes "excellent marketing strategy" before raising his eyebrows.

He says they get 2 to 3 Hulks per year and have been told to expect no more than 1 DaytonaC per year hence a ten year waiting list isn't as daft as it sounds.

I certainly struck lucky getting my GMTc within a week and with a decent deal only back in March however my plan to add a Hulk in the new year looks unlikely and I am now considering a JLC and parking th idea of any new Rolexes until availability becomes less ridiculous.

For the record the only SS they had apart from the absolute norm was an air king and new explorer (not sure if they are scarce or not currently) They didn't even have an EXP2...
