Sky Dweller SS availability

Hello all, I have an opportunity to purchase a SS Sky Dweller from my North American AD (black face) and wanted to get some feedback from my Rolex Forum friends as to how rare these pieces are? Is this an opportunity that should not be passed up?

Some say it might be the rarest SS Professional model.
But who cares if it is rare or others like it.
Do you like it? Does it put a big smile on your face?
Sorry, forum members can't really help you.

I believe of the the three colors, black is the easiest to get (still not easy). I turned one down a few months ago as I prefer the blue.

Rolex doesn’t list it as a professional model..... on their web site - it is listed under the Classic Models.

Pass on it. If you liked it you wouldn’t be asking lol. Let someone who truly wants this combo have it. I think the opportunity to buy any Sky-D at MSRP is fortunate enough as it is.

Sky-D is classified as a Classic model FYI, but very difficult to obtain like some professional models.

It saddens me to see questions like this. It's the problem with Rolex as a brand, people buying them because of hype and potential financial gain and not because of heart.

I don't think you will make a quick buck on the SkyD like say a Daytona... lol

Just buy it, wear it and enjoy it. I did. Two years in and I still love it.

I recently rid myself of a Daytona C in favor of a TT SkyD which makes me much happier. Now I have a watch I love and wear. I bought the Daytona due to a severe case of FOMO and it sat in the safe unloved, despite its "market value."

Get what you love and don't agonize over present or future value. You will be a lot happier having a watch you enjoy rather than one with a higher perceived value. BTW none of the current Rolex references are "rare."

It's an over priced mid-tier watch that is mass produced and distributed World Wide. If your definition of rare includes those conditions, then it's rare.

Will you buy it because you really like it or because you perceive the watch to be "rare?"

This watch is definitely not common to be offered for sale by an AD but is definitely offered more than the blue dial or the BLRO.

Over priced?...not so sure, compared to other year calendars ,it is good value, and very innovative. I would say it is by far the best value for money in the Rolex price range.
And the blue is rare by Rolex standards. Rarer than a daytona.

Definitely not over priced. A stainless steel annual calendar from Rolex for around £11k. Bargain!

I am failing to see the "opportunity" here. MSRP $14.4k new and go in grey for what, $16-17k? Out the door in my state that's $15,660 after sales tax. Correct me if I am wrong but a grey will offer you less than that for a watch they sell for $16-17k.

Doesn't matter about rareness and opportunity imo you just buy if it's a watch you want. Don't buy because it's considered "rare", otherwise you will regret no question down the line. If you want a black dial white gold Rolesor SkyD, you will be able to get later too. The blue dial is the only that may have a waiting list for a few more years imo

You're right. If one really wants to play the finances here, it's a losing proposition. There's always a "bid/ask" and they are never equal. Not to forget any shipping/insurance on the future sale that may be needed if not in person which is quite pricey.

I've only seen one SS at an AD in the last year. That said, if you don't really love it, who cares how common it is. Pass on it

Interesting question. Either you want it and have the money to buy it or you don't want it, or you don't have the money to buy it, or you don't feel it's worth the price to buy it?
