) Save liquid soap, lotion, etc bottles, then drain them appropriately into one (12 empty bottles of hand lotion produces a full).

) Wash most zip lock baggies

) Never eat out unless traveling or on a date, FAR too expensive !

List could go on for a while .................

Can’t comment. I’m not cheap at all.

But a good friend in mine would say

I buy a lot of store brand items at the grocery store.

In general, I have nice things but not a lot of things. I make it a point to live small. Some view that as cheap. They are partly right.

Man, I'm so cheap........... I've cut a bottle of lotion in half before to get it all out (prior to Amazon delivering my replenishment). You'd be shocked at how much gets trapped in there and is typically thrown out The aforementioned would only occur on a day where I'm not in a big rush to leave the house. I like to view it more as fiscal responsibility vs. cheapness

I'm not cheap but....

I take good care of the stuff I have and it lasts a long time.

I have so many clothes it's embarrassing, but they never seem to wear out.

Tech pisses me off because of its built in obsolescence (and new advances) that its filling up landfills.

When I started out a pro photographer in 1976 you could buy a good camera, and still use it today. Same with darkroom equip.

Now it's a few years turnover with cameras and computers.

RANT OVER.....

I take good care of my things. Shoes, equipment, kitchen stuff etc.

Had many items for 10+ years which are as good (or in the case of shoes better) as new, despite heavy usage.

Buy quality once, use good preventative maintenance and it will serve you well.

I also don’t like wasting things like food, or bathroom consumables, but don’t tend to cut into packaging to get the last scrapings out.

I was taught not to pick up pennies in front of a steamroller. E.g, don't show up to a date or job interview with a knicked face from reusing an old razor, or with worn out clothes.

Most important thing for me is not overextending on the big things. My rent is way below my means and I don't have a car, so that's my cheap side

Not having the second largest purchase of the normal free world person is huge. sometimes I wish I could go without a vehicle... but I love mobility, and performance.

If I find two similar quality food items (on a non-favorite product) at the grocery store, I will calculate cost per unit volume/weight EVERY TIME and buy the cheapest. I am sure I am not saving more than a single dollar total per shopping trip, but I still do it.

And yet I own Rolex. Go figure. We are cheap in the strangest ways...

Best thing we ever did... got married in Vegas. :)

Not that we're cheap, just that i have found the higher the cost and higher head count of people at a wedding, generally the shorter the marriage lasts.

Added bonus, when the wedding is done you're in Vegas baby!

I am so cheap...I always wait to renew my yearly safety inspection for my truck until after the end of the month it expires on (if it expires January 31st of the next year, signified by a “1”, I wait until the 1st of February to get it inspected)

I bought my truck in 2009. This is my 12th year of doing this so when I get it inspected this coming February, I’ll save a whopping $30.

(it seems more and more ridiculous as I write this out...haha)

This thread could be a competition to find the 'thriftiest' person on TRF - who can tick every post on the thread.
I'm maybe a little embarrassed to say I can tick most of them so far.
Comes from raising a family on one income I guess, old habits die hard.

This, and it’s so true. My wife and I are trying to consolidate a lot of stuff and get rid of a lot of stuff. We want more room in our closets or just make it easier in case we find a house without so much work, i.e.: no ranch.

After her mom died, he had to clean out her mother’s house and there were hundreds of VHS tapes. My wife thought it sinful just to toss them and brought them home and she thought she’d donate them to goodwill or another thrift store along with a bunch of clothes.

No deal. Nobody wants them. That tech is too old.

But, in the spirit of the original post, I'm so cheap that if steamships were a dime a dozen, all I'd do is run up and down the pier saying, "Ain't that cheap!"

GO!

This is next level, but i like it. I don’t really have any cheap habits outside of maybe buying clothes. I hate buying polos that cost $95. It drives me nuts. So i wait until footjoy brand polos go on the sale rack in my size and buy them for $25-30. It’s funny because nobody buys the smalls even though they fit like a medium.

I save half a box of macaroni and cheese when i make it for my daughter, since she only eats half. That’s pretty frugal, since she only eats half a box.

Yep I do everyone of those.

My cheapest habit is buying Creed by the flacon to get the best price per ml. and refill spray bottles myself.

Ummm is that what you meant?
