Reading this thread I can honestly say that I'm not cheap. Don't do any of this.
Some of the awkward ways gave me a nice chuckle

Went to the local discount store and bought a $10.00 watch, took it apart and wrote Rolex with a sharpie on the dial.

Okay, you are officially the cheapest person on earth. A silver car ? Painted with rattle cans ? You were able to blend the color ? I love you dude. I could NEVER. Most of my cars have been silver and because I know that even the BEST body shops can’t blend I sell the minute I get a scratch. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

A little context...I enjoy DIY (whole home reno, car engine rebuild, automotive repair and maintenance, etc), and learned by alot from research and trial and error...one of the early lessons was if I messed up, I almost always can rip out and re-do. I also found YouTube to be invaluable, I probably wouldn't try most DIY I've done without YouTube. But I always wanted to try minor paint repair but didn't feel I could get the right materials until I found out automotive paint can be purchased in rattle can at automotive paint shops. The paint shop will look up the paint code for your car and fill the rattle can using Sherwin William's automotive paint ($40/can). I first tried my hand at refinishing some scratched rims I bought on ebay, posted here. https://r.tapatalk.com/shareLink/top...ink_source=app No prior experience but thought it would be a small project to learn from. This gave me the confidence to tackle a small bumper repair. Secondly, I felt comfortable learning on a 15yo daily driver. After the paint/clear/wet sand...I'm going to clay bar the whole car, then apply cutting compound (buff), finishing polish, and ceramic coat the entire car. I've never done any of this ever, but bought the tools and materials and documenting it in photos...we'll see if it's a winner, tolerable or a big mistake! Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk |
