Icon20 Hulk or Batman Dilemma?

Hi everyone, I’m very new to this forum.

I apologize in advance if I’m repeating this topic, I would like to know your opinions regard the Hulk and Batman. I asked my AD to put my name down for a GMT or a Subc date b/c I wanted a date complication. After about 4 months I got a call, they had the Hulk. I asked them to hold it so I can see in person, although I was hoping to get the Batman instead because I love the Blue on the bezel and the GMT function.

My initial impression of the Hulk when I first saw the watch on the billboard years ago, where I drive to work was “who would want to wear a green watch?”. But when I saw the watch in person the very first time this past week, that perception changed. The dial has that chameleon effect under different lighting conditions and it looks gorgeous. The colors were not too loud or over the top as depicted in pictures and it is stunning. I think I had that love at first sight moment. I really like the watch, but I asked them to let me sleep on it and let them know the next day. They told me, no pressures, and were very nice about it. They said there were a few others who were
on the list would buy that watch so there is no pressure for me to buy that watch. They mentioned there is a possibility that the Hulk maybe discontinued soon and that the GMT will still be around for me to purchase in the near future.

I slept on it and the next day, after talking to the wife, I decided to pull the trigger on the Hulk; realizing I may not have another chance to acquire that watch if it retires soon. The dilemma I face is should I enjoy the Hulk and not looking back or wait for the Batman. I really like both watches but to get the Batman I will have to save up for the funds or I will have to sell the Hulk to free up the money for the GMT.

Thank you all.

I have heard the opposite from my AD. They tell me the BLNR is essentially gone and will vanish possibly to be reborn at Baselworld, possibly not. They reckon the Hulk is here to stay.

But with Rolex, who knows? Even my knowledgeable AD never talks Rolex without inserting that caveat.

Getting the 116610lv at retail $ is a win...pull the trigger. I have both a 116619 sub and a BLNR GMT, both are awesome, but my preference is the sub. congratulations!

Buy the Hulk now before your AD changes its mind and sells to someone else!

Haha, I had the same thought a few years ago. I saw an LVC in a store and thought, although beautiful, who would buy a green watch?
But the image stayed in my mind, and a couple years later I ended up buying one. I now wear it daily. When I bought it they also had a BLNR in the display (those were the days), and in comparison to the LVC it seemed a little less brilliant. I do greatly admire the BLNR, and would like to own one, but if I had to make the choice again, I would still take the LVC.

They are both winners. Really a hard choice, but I would go Hulk because the glid lock bracelet feels very comfortable when you need extra room for when your wrist swells. I think the Batman gives you the extra 5mm, but glide lock gives you a whole lot more flexibility.

I have both and love both equally. That being said, I purchased a SubC bracelet for my BLNR because the polished center links (PCL's) didn't grow on me like I thought and I absolutely love the GlideLock on the Sub bracelet. The PCL's are a bit too blingy for my taste. The LVc is just a kick ass watch, and the road to my LVc love is pretty much identical to yours. I'd enjoy the LVc and be stoked you picked one up at MSRP.

If you don't need the GMT, enjoy the LVC. It's a really great dial that I've made exceptions for on the whole maxi case era.....irresistible chameleon IMO. Enjoy in good health.

This, unfortunately, summarizes the situation. The upside is you when and if you go for the BLNR you can easily flip your LVc for what you paid for it.

Subject title is misleading. You already bought the watch. There's no dilemma.

Wear and enjoy the Hulk. When (and if) the Batman comes in go try it on. If you like the Batman better, sell the Hulk. You will likely get what you paid if not more. Easy solution and a good dilemma to have considering most cannot get their hands on either watch.

Looking from that angle I supposed there’s no dilemma. However, I still am yearning for the Batman ;-).

Enjoy the Hulk and stay on the wait list for the BLNR. Worst case is they give you the call and you're not interested any longer and with any luck another TRF member will get there dream piece.

Will also give you time to save as you mention in your post.

Great point about the glide lock clasp. Thank you

Great choice. I take it at this point, the watch's functionality is not a major factor (GMT for the intl traveler). For whatever it's worth, to date, Hulk's green is the only other color than the black for the sub (vs GMT, you have the root beer, pepsi, batman). The green is also Rolex official color. Enjoy it.

I have both watches. I like the BLNR a lot but the LVc is a very memorable watch. It has pizazz and it is definitely very different than most other Rolex watches. I adored my LVc. Save money and when or if the BLNR comes alone own both for a very dynamic duo.

In my years Lon wait I actually ran across the BLNR in a display case once, I knew it was surely gone within hours, I tried it on, loved it but did not pull the trigger. Regretted it for a few days as I found it it sold two hours after I left. My thought was I could have sold it when the Hulk became available to buy that. When all is said and done though I am very thankful I waited and got the hulk. My reason for not buying it at that exact moment was I didn’t want the dealer to disregard my place in line for the hulk or think I was going to flip the hulk like I would have had to do to buy the hulk. You are in the exact opposite situation I was.
