Help to choose between Bluesy and Speedmaster Moonphase

Dear TRF fellows,

I need help today as I'm about to make a choice between those two very different watches: latest Bluesy 116613 vs Speedmaster Moonphase (I like both steel and two-tones so I'm not sure yet)

Does anyone own both Bluesy and Moonphase, to see side by side pictures or on wrist?
Which one to you prefer and why? Alternatively: Are they complementary ? In which occasion do you wear them ?

Which one gives you the most presence? (important point in the business environment I live in - I'm a GM in an industrial company)

I forgot to mention I already own a Sub date 16610 (daily wearer for more than 20 years), so it's a big decision for me but will never be a full replacement of my classic sub.

Thanks for your help and ideas

Cheers, Chris

I own a bluesy and a Moon watch. I also Like the blue moon phase omega. but I would get the Blusey first. It will pop a lot more than the omega. My moon watch flies under the radar and is a daily wearer. My blusey does not fly under the radar and gets commented on. Both are great choices but two different leagues.

Thanks! That's exactly the kind of feedback I was looking for

Is the moon phase much thicker than the moon watch?

I’ve seen someone in the omega forums post a picture of his blue speedmaster moonphase on the Speedmaster SS bracelet which is not a combination you can purchase the blue moonphase in. Blue moonphase comes with the blue alligator strap and you have to purchase the bracelet separatelly. I really like the way it looks, thinking of getting that for myself.

Nice combination indeed. I'm wandering if the Moonphase blue dial pops out as much as the Bluesy dial?..

I tried on the black Moonphase a few days ago. It is way thicker than the moon watch - or should I say than the Speedy pro, because technically both of them are from the Moonwatch collection.
Its thickness gives it a stronger presence. Plus the small moon engraved with Buzz Adrin's tiny little footprint at the place of the Tranquility sea landing site. The whole watch looked like a mini lunar museum to me, a piece of space history on a heavy space-proof watch. Literally superb.

But I also tried on the Bluesy soon after and got an immediate wow effect as well, I mean a big WOW.

So there I am, sitting on a sofa with those two top models teasing me undressing in front of me Very hard choice.
And no I'm not ready to please me with both (my wife is behind )

PS: the same day in my Space wish list I was also aiming for the Dark Side of the Moon - which is in the same price range as the Bluesy even with zero precious metal. On photo it looked damn impressive, but when I tried it on I had the feeling of a very light piece of plastic, light years from the Bluesy. Immediately deleted from the list.

I own the blue sub and moonwatch.

Would definitely be the blue sub for me

I’m only keen on the 39.7mm moonwatches and the moon phase looks kind of odd on it.

If you want a classic moon phase look at the JLC ultra thin moon phase

Bluesy for sure but I would certainly add a Speedmaster moonwatch (non moonphase) to your collection at a later date.

Thank you all for the comments.
That is also what I'm hearing everywhere, that a collection is anyway incomplete without a Speedmaster moonwatch.

The bluesy is one of my faves...so that would be my vote. It's spectacular in the flesh and gives you just the right amount of pop and color without overdoing it, IMO. One of the few watches that looks as at home with t-shirts and shorts as it does with a suit.

Plus, function-wise, I've just always been more of a sub guy over a chronograph guy. I've found so many more uses to a timing bezel over a stopwatch. But, that's me.

The moon watch has always struck me as a really cool watch to have in your collection to take out and play with from time to time. It's one of the best looking chronos on the market, again IMO. You asked about complementary? Absolutely both could exist very well. Then, all you would need would be a GMT.

The 116613LB gets my vote as well. Love that dial/bezel combo with the occadional sunburst shine on the dial depending on lighting.

Not a fan of the TT blue Sub but I'd still go with it in this case. Love the 3570.50 though.

All the Speedmasters with the glass display back ride high on the wrist. That stupid bubble back is my only complaint with the co-axial Speedys.

I don’t like the Bluesy at all, but they are harder to source than almost any Speedmaster. The exceptions are some of the “limited edition” Speedmaster models.

I love Chronographs and adore my Speedy, but they’re much easier to find and cheaper by almost half compared to the Bluesy. So if you do like the Rolex in blue I’d say that’s the one to get now. I wouldn’t, but then my tastes are narrow and off the norm.

I really liked Omega in pics but Omega in the metal is way too thick and doesn't even seem to be in the same league as Rolex IMHO. I took all of the models off my list.
