Is it a fair trade? YM2 for a Blue Sub

I have a friend who is wanting to work a trade with me in my 116681 YM2 2tone w/ Rose Gold. He wants to give me $6K plus a 116613LB Submariner. Would you do this trade? Do you think it’s a fair trade?

Just from a price point no, not really fair. Going by DavidSW's site, a Bluesy sub new is $12,375 and a TT YM2 is $20,875 so that's $8,500 difference.

I also like the YM2 better so it's a no for me.

20k for a TT YM2 is stretching it...they usually go for more like 17-18k pre-owned. So, it all boils down to what you've got in your YM and what you need out of it...and of course which watch you like more.

I've had both, and like the bluesy way better, fwiw.

What are you trying to accomplish? I don't care for either. But just know that any PM Rolex is going to be harder to sell due to it's higher price. And the higher the price the harder it will be to sell- the audience of buyers is smaller.

So if you don't love your YM, and can flip it for some cash and something easier to sell, do it.

Are both the same age?

Do you want a Bluesy?

Big difference in size between the two, will you be OK with that?

Check out the price differential on a few sites and agree on a trade if it's what you both want

Fair trade. I’ve seen the YM for 16k and the sub for 10. All in all it’s be same value packaged up.

I wouldn’t trade unless you just don’t like the YM or you could use the cash.

Rereading; if you really like the sub then go for it.

It's a fair trade. Good way to evacuate from a 2 tone YM2....

I am not a fan of the YM. Not 1, not 2.
Especially not the 2017 version of the 2.

I don't know if i like that trade though either.

Forgetting your friend - what would it be for you to sell the YM 2 and buy a new bluesy?

It is a far deal if you want out of the YM II. Send a few TS a note and see what the trade value on your watch is. Then you will better understand the deal. I would do it as I am not a fan of the YM II.

The numbers are right for the used watches.

Is the condition of both watches comparable? Do they both come with the full set?

Could buy a pre owned Bluesy for around $9500 and maybe could sell the YM2 for $16-17K

Yes both are full set, the YM has a warranty card dated 2017 and the sub is dated 2015

I’ve had the sub twice, really didn’t think about it until my buddy brought it up. I like both watches, only issue for me was that a 2 tone sub you can find for around $8K and a YM for around $17K so that price difference alone has me questioning it. Not really a matter of do I like the sub, everyone likes the sub plus everyone has a sub as well.

I agree with you, everyone has a Submariner in either steel or TT plus just the price difference is a big part of it
