Rolex Explorer 2 16570 Used Purchase - Bezel Grazing
Hi all,
I am about to purchase an Explorer 2 Polar, K serial and have a question about the bezel and overall quality of the watch as its partly an investment piece. I noticed that the bezel is sharp all the way around except for below the 12 oclock, where it appears to be slightly grated. I am wondering if this was done during polishing and if this is an easy fix or makes any material difference to the watch. Also, any comments about the lugs and overall quality would be greatly appreciated, as its a significant purchase for me. I will be paying 5.6k USD with Box and papers. Thank you all in advance! |

Probably a better forum page for this- You're not asking about the legitimacy of the piece I take it?

Little hard to tell from the pic quality, but a couple of things I would check:
-Bezel has been polished and probably numerous times, judging by the lack of crispness of the bezel numerals - look at “4”. - Crown gourds seem to have been over polished and inconsistent - need some pictures of the lugs side on, but again looks like a lot of metal had been lost over the years. - get a picture of the case back

Lighting is horrible, so hard to tell, but the lugs actually look pretty sharp

Looks real sharp, maybe even unpolished. You can always tell by the polished edge on the 16570 bezels. One polish and then the sharp edge is gone. This one looks pretty good.

Looks good from here. Also, the "grating" on the bezel @ 6 o'clock is likely just a photographic anomaly (artifact) as a result of the low-res/highly compressed pics. Have them send you a close up of the area with better lighting if possible. |

Thank you all for your responses. I’d agree, I think the lugs and bezel are still sharp. However it’s the grating that is making me unsure. I can definitely see it and somewhat feel it in real life. Does anyone have any experience on whether it can be polished out or whether it will be a permanent blemish. I’ll try add another photo
