Brazen Burglary In SoCal
Actually I'd call this a robbery. Was just reading this thread over in the "Rolex General Discussion" and thought it may be of interest to anyone selling (or buying as well) a watch. The thread is titled "**WARNING** -SOCAL- Stolen watches: DRSD mk3"
I've only sold one watch face-to-face and it was a great experience (happened to be in SoCal as well), but this will make me think twice! Also, the suggestion of doing the transaction inside a bank came up; do banks generally allow people to do business inside their premises, particularly if one or both parties are customers of the bank? Someone also suggested asking the buyer to hand over a drivers license before showing them the watch. Seems like a good idea; the AD's always make me hand over my license before they show me stuff! |

Yes, I think it's good to exchange information such as drivers licenses, or even a simple connect on LinkedIn to make sure you know who your buyer is.
I think sellers now should check whether the proposed meet-up location is safe. Due to the robbery that happened at the jeweler in SD, I would make sure that the meet-up location has double doors so it isn't as easy to run away.
