Trusted Seller - Source of Watch

A Trusted Seller on here has my grail watch. However, the source of the watch (original AD) is Argentina.

I trust the Trusted Seller - however - who know what happened to the watch before they received it and it is a long journey from Argentina.

I have read horror stories (probably all fake but I am paranoid given the cost of the watch) about folks opening the watch or replacing internals before handing it off as BNIB. Any truth to that - better to wait for source of watch to be a US AD?

I bought my Grail watch from a trusted seller. When I got the watch the warranty card was stamped by the boutique in Argentina. No issues and the watch was great.

As they say "But the Seller not the Watch". So If this is truly a "trusted seller" then I wouldn't worry about it so much since they will stand behind the sale to protect their reputation.

Good Luck!

Agree with that - did you have the watch authenticated?

Yes, but not at first. I've had the watch 3 years now (it's 5 years old in total) and it was running about 15-20 seconds fast so I sent it to the AP service center to service the movement. They obviously opened it during service and would've noted if it wasn't authentic. I also registered it on the AP website using the serial number stamped on the watch and warranty number on the booklet without issue.

But to be honest I never had any concerns since I purchased it from DavidSW

IMO if you're buying from a trusted seller like David then you shouldn't be concerned about the authenticity or condition. If you're not happy they will always make it right in my experience.

Almost nobody is taking parts out of perfectly good, new, watches. There is no market for parts that would make this profitable.

Do as I did. Request that your seller source you a watch from a US AD. They want your business and will work to your satisfaction.

It's very funny, Argentina! is the country of the Polo, what do you think it is? Most of the people who live in Buenos Aires are of European origin, Rolex has an entire building in the center of the city of Buenos Aires (the Brunetta Tower)... do you know Buenos Aires? is half an hour from Punta del Este Uruguay! it's fantastic sometimes to hear these things ... most of the replicas come from China or and are sold in a crazy way in countries of the Middle East and United States ....buy quiet if you come from Uruguay or Argentina and doubt a lot of sealed cards in Miami, Middle Eastern countries or Mexico or Shanghai

Basically what you are saying is that you don't trust the seller.

With the fears you have skip this route and buy from an AD for your peace of mind

The seller isn't going to open the watch and confirm it hasn't been toyed with or that someone hasn't tried to turn one watch into two almost real watches by mixing real and fake. Again, I have only read about this online. I am just gently asking the community for any advice on the veracity of those types of posts. So far it seems like this is just something folks have made up, perhaps to troll non-AD sources. Thank you all for your input.
