Hello all. I've been gigging through my late dads belongings looking for his military medals. My 8 year old son, born after my dad died, is mad on anything military. I found my dads watch. It's a blackfaced Rolex submariner with sword hands and the T in a circle. I'll try and post a pick but it's asking for the pic url???? . Anyway getting to the point. It works but it's pretty dirty, the bevel?? is stuck. I want to clean it up but i dont want to damage it. Am I ok taking it to a jewelers or should i find a rolex specialist?

Further research into the exact time & place of where my 5512 was purchased is:
3 (F) Wing Zweibruecken Germany This is based on the paperwork that came with the watch and the date possibly matching when the watch was purchased. Which was in the summer of 1962. I know that this is a long shot, but are there any members who may have been attached to this particular Canadian fighter squadron? Regards Tony

Very cool! Congrats. I'm in the process of searching for my own red sub set and can empathize with your pain of the absolute minefield that it is. A true test of patience for sure. Hope it works out for me soon.

Lovely watch, fortunately for me, like you live away from the many temptations of the vintage watch shops otherwise I would have to buy something like that on sight! Congrats
