Nice RED yourself there Rickster

Yes, I still have the chocolate metres first 1680 I just call it "old" because it's a 2.2 million serial # and a I 69 caseback

If you can have "only" one, that's a pretty good one to have.

I wasn't looking for mine - fortune just smiled on me. It came as a gift from a retired US Navy SEAL Captain.

New here but here's mine (well, originally Dad's).

Not sure what year, all the paperwork is still with my stepmom, last I saw it he had everything from the day he bought it. Need to have it gone through, new band, all the normal stuff. Just need to find someone I can trust with it which is why I'm here in large part.

Welcome. Way to start off with a bang . . . a meters-first red sub!

From the long "f" in "feet" it appears that you have a Mark I meters first 1680, the first batch of 1680s ever made. This most likely puts the date to the first half of 1969. More info can be found here:

Upside to dad wearing it every day is it was a part of him I'll have forever, downside is the serial number between the lugs is impossible to see with the naked eye. I'll have to track down a loupe or bug the stepmom for the paperwork to find out for sure what year it is.

First half of 69 sounds right for a purchase time, I've always thought he got it in 69/70.

Can someone tell we if mine is mark one or two dial? I have been told both. I just got it, and I am going to sell it but I want to make sure I know what it is.
