Reasonable Price for this Matte 666

Hello All,
I wanted to get the experts take on this 666. Seller claims that dial and hands are original. Serial is in the low 8M. How does it look to you, what would be a reasonable price with no box or papers. Thanks to everyone in advance.

I love matt SD's, I wish I knew more about the hands to help you out, maybe someone else will weigh in.

The ones I have seen seldom come with Box and papers....there's one for sale in the classifieds here on TRF for Mid $8k's, I think...

If I had to guess, the hands look to clean to be original and they could be an early replacement and not that uncommon.

If you take the case back off you may see some notations on when the watch was serviced.

Check out these links, it seems that many early 8 millions have gloss dials with WG surrounds, you'd better make sure that the matt dial on that wathc is original to the watch and not added later to increase the price.

It looks like there could be close to a $2,000 difference between matt and gloss....

Keep in mind, I'm a home school expert....so i know nearly nothing...

IMHO A fair and reasonable price is 1 you and the seller are both happy with. When looking to buy or sell a watch you should do plenty of homework and know exactly what you are selling or want to buy. Once this is done you should study the various conditions and the prices they sell for by studying the market.(Ebay, watch shows, auctions, forums etc) This will tell you what the current going prices are for the watch in various conditions and you will then know the reasonable price to buy or sell a watch.

Let me ask this a different way

From the pictures, does it seem to look correct? Right dial and hands? Good case? Seller claims it was only polished once. Does this look correct? I think it has fat lugs and good bevels. I think I have a good idea on the price, just want to know if people think this is in good condition.

Prices has gone up quite a bit on the matte '666 as the 1665 and 1655 moved well above $10,000 and people were looking for something more affordable, although a '666 is a quasi-vintage as it has a sapphire crystal. 12-18 months ago, you could snag one up for under $6,000 but now you would have to expect to pay $7,500 and up for a reasonable condition one, at least if you are buying via internet and not from original owner directly.

The hands and dial look perfectly fine to me.
Just make sure of the serial # is the low 8mil. The lower the better, nothing higher than 8.2 mil for me.
It really looks like a nice watch. It would sell a day long at 7.5k-8k I would think.

Looks to be a legit MK II dial. You should confirm with the seller that nothing (dial markers, hands, bezel pearl) glows in the dark after being held near a strong light for a period of time. Everything looks to be tritium, but the pics look a bit washed out exposure-wise so it's best to be 100% certain.

Thanks all

Thanks for your feedback. It's good to know that its most likely the real deal. I think I am going to go ahead with the deal. I am supposed to pick it up next weekend! It's from 1982ish from my research, which is when I was born, so it will be a 30th B-Day gift for myself. I plan on keeping this baby a long time. Thanks you all again for your help. If anyone has more comments, please feel free to chime in.
