Info wanted please on this oldie.....

Belongs to an octegenarian friend of mine. I would like to know if possible how old it is, and if it is genuine or put together from various other watches.
Also its value.
It runs so smoothly with hardly a noticeable (or audible tick).
Are the dial and crown genuine?
If you need any other info, please ask. Owner worked for REME in Portsmouth from '46 to '77 and learned his hobby of watch repairing there. I am not sure (and neither is he) how long he has owned this watch.[IMG][/IMG]
