6549 is back from the SPA at LAWW

Well after almost 4 months with a bump in the road she's back.
Nothing looks different, well almost nothing.
It probably sounds like I'm complaining, but I'm not.
I am not sure how I feel about leaving it as is as far as the polishing goes because literally it doesn't look any different, well almost.
Maybe I was expecting something else?hmmmmm
I left it up to the crew at LAWW as to what to do to the watch and of course they recommended keeping it as is because the solar flaring dial matched the battle scars on the band.

Before

After

Here is a few photos of the watch disassembled

Couldn't get a hold of solid gold bars so the next best thing.

Crustacean is gone from the sonic blast!

Couple shots of it after work complete

Couple Wrist shots

All in all I am happy with it. People have complemented on it, saying how bright it is. It does pop I must say. It looks very striking in person.

Thank you LAWW.

Congrats on a very cool-looking vintage Rolex! Is it 34mm?

Refreshing to see a restoration that has left the soul/character of the watch alone, battle scars, patina, blemishes and all.

I do love the work they do, but I can’t tell what they did do here.

They scrutiny every part of the mechanism for integrity. Replace what is worn. And whatever else needs addressing both aesthetically and functionally, eg, loose bracelet links...

Oh, no, I mean, while I mean I understand WHAT they do (I've sent a few watches there over the last couple years) I just can't SEE the difference in the before and after pics here.
But, that all said, I'm glad John's happy with the work.

I hear ya Andy. Like I had said I was hoping maybe for different results, but I guess with just a routine maintenance with no changes to the watch appearance wise to me it looked just about the same when it arrived as it did when it left. Only difference is some dead skin is gone along with it running.

Nice to know that it’s running strong and will do so for years. I think a bracelet restoration would make a big difference in visual appeal. But if you want it all original, clearly that’s not an option.

Oh believe me it’s an option that’s always on the table. Like I said I was surprised when it arrived. But I did let LAWW decide and Edvi and them suggested keepit as is so it would match the dial.

It is definitely something I can see going back and forth on. I'm sure we've all seen watches w dials that have suffered some damage, whether it's moisture, or flaking lume, or heavily corroded matte or glossy finish, but WITH a completely refurbished shiny case with sharp chamfers and a beautiful polish. I guess, on the one hand, that restoration will blemish over time, but initially, at least to me, it looks so incongruous with a damaged dial.

Weird thread, I can't tell if you are happy or not. If they recommended keeping the watch as is and they did full service on it why would it look different? It might be cleaner at the most but what else would you expect?

Why does the bracelet look all crappy and worn out. I'm not taking about the finish but the way the links look. Is that how that type of bracelet functions or are parts bent?

It’s just crappy, worn out and bent after 61 years without a polish.

I like a Rustic watch - looks cool in ways that some safe queens will never get.

That jetty looks familiar ; )
