FLASHBACK - Zenith Daytona is back!!! New model for 2021!

Certainly, Rolex Daytona inspired design... but that’s not a bad thing. Zenith is well respected and this should be well received.

Do you think this is too much of a Daytona ripoff?

Not a fan. The design is messy and busy, with too many elements going on, and that crooked date window is a turnoff.

I don’t find it close at all to any Daytona design-wise, other than they’re both chronographs. Very different, and not in a good way. Just my 2 cents and no offense meant to anyone who likes the look of these. Completely subjective.

I’ll stick to my 16520 (Zenith) Daytona.

I like it! The 4:30 date window doesn't bother me at all, and one of the reasons I've resisted buying a Daytona is the lack of a date complication.

Good for Zenith!

I agree and have the same issue with the AP Royal Oak Chronograph. At least this one is at the edge of the dial and not way out in the middle due to the small non-AP movement hiding in the closed case back.

Wow, I actually dig it! The date doesn’t bother me. The tri-color sundials aren’t my favorite but I know that is the classic el primero scheme. The sapphire case back is cool.

I want this... might be a tad thick for me but I'll reserve judgement until I try it on.

Interesting. I think it does resemble the 116500LN although the dial is a bit busy.

I think it’s pretty. I’d have stuck with monochrome subdials and no date but those things are Zenith signatures.

How’s the quality of zenith compared to Rolex?

I want to not like it, but I do actually like it. A lot.

I believe this is be a popular piece. Can’t wait to see it on the rubber strap referenced

Ummm idk.

Don’t love it. Don’t hate it either. Couldn’t they just have left the 3 subdials the same color?

I guess I’m biased owning 3 Daytona’s so every time I look at it I see all the faults not the all the great things about it.

For over a decade Rolex used the movement from this watch (with a few modifications) in the first automatic Daytona, reference 16520. It’s a workhorse that’s been around since 1969. They are very nice.

At first glance it has so many resemblances to the Daytona.

Really interesting piece. With the date complication, exhibition back, and 1/10th second capabilities, it has a lot of things the Daytona doesn’t.

And who did Rolex go to when they needed an automatic chronograph? They used the Zenith movement for over 12 years.

Anyone know how thick the watch is?

I think Daytona owes Zenith a much bigger debt than a similar bezel or clasp... it's payback ;)

How are the El Primero movements in terms of reliability, durability, and most importantly are they fairly easy to service for your local watchmaker?

WAY too close to Daytona knock off. They could have done much more with this.
