FP Journe Lune - Rose Gold or Platinum

I’m considering purchasing my first FP Journe piece and I think my favoured one is the 40mm Lune. Initially the rose gold was my preference due mainly to the lovely dial colour and that the watch seems to stand out more. The platinum version appears more subdued. I have discussed this with the UK Journe dealer and have registered my interest.

However, I unable to see an example until the watch arrives so would like to get views from people that have seen both these versions (or similar Journe watches). After reflecting more, I’m now moving towards the platinum (I don’t have a platinum watch but do have a white gold Vacheron patrimony and a rose gold Royal Oak).

Here are the images of the two versions.

Platinum cases offer something truly special and unique in terms of user wrist experience, the heft and "svelte" feel is what I enjoy about them.

Imho Journe does the best red/red in the business and it isn't close. I own them and love them. You cannot go wrong with the red/red.

Platinum for overall aesthetic.

Rose will certainly pop more.

You can’t lose. I would seriously need to try them both on. Tough call.

I've asked myself this exact question. I agree with GB-man that I think these need to be seen in the flesh. I have went back and forth on this model, at times thinking it's really cool, to other times thinking it's drab and lacks any sense of symmetry. That's just my personal opinion of course and not meant to take away from the watch.

If I had to vote only on pics, I vote Platinum just because I think you will get more flexibility in terms of straps, etc.

My collection is currently all platinum from them. Having seen their rose in person now, I can’t stop thinking about it.

I’d say platinum has the versatility and - to the previous point - is quite heavy (in a good way).

Another vote for you can’t go wrong.

platinum is always greater than gold IMO. it is more exclusive even if it isnt.

Of the two pictured, I would go w the platinum. Not a fan of the RG w that color dial- if it was a silver/white dial, then RG would be my preference.

OP, with all the hype around FPJ, how hard is it to get the piece as a first time buyer (I assume you are)?

You can’t make this decision looking at pictures. That’s a tough ask.

That said, if you are in an environment where you can wear a gold watch easily (sounds like the case as you say you have RG RO), then to me the RG is a better looking watch so that’s my vote.

What’s the wait time btw?

I am a first time buyer with no history at the only Uk AD for Journe. They have only been a Journe for around 18 months I think. My contact indicated that it was likely to be over a year but seemed reasonably confident I would get one. He did mention that they are yet to receive a Chronometre Bleu!
