Status of collection before consolidation

4-5 of them will need to go to enable a PM piece to come. Probably the AK, Milgauss Z-blue, GMT Pepsi, Tudor BBN, and Sub Date. They don’t got wrist regularly so I figure it’s also a good way to let them go, however not sure if I will miss them later. How do you think?

Lovely collection you have there. Yeah go with what you don't wear anymore, makes sense.

For me if i sold watches or even had such a great collection you have and really needed to part with some to finance a PM. It would be, AK, Both MG's, Green Sub one and maybe a Daytona if needed.

Although it would have to be a very special PM piece to break up such a fantastic collection.

I’m also in the process of consolidating down to 3-4 watches only from 12. Looking to make one of them a higher end piece from F.P. Journe.

I would get all of the information on what the watches in your collection are worth. I am not talking about looking on the internet for prices, I am talking about real offers from dealers. I would also go try on all the PM pieces you are interested in and see what works for you. I have owned PM pieces from Rolex in Platinum, YG, WG and TT. All are great in a special way but I am not sure I would not sit tight with what you have. I have gotten to a point with my collection that I just wear what I want, when I want and for as long as I want. I have a lot of watches that sit for a long time between wears but as long as I still like them and think they are special I don't sell them. Good luck and report back on what you decisive.

Honestly the white Milgauss gets most wrist time and is one of my favorite.

I would sell the white milgauss, black bay, and air king. The blue milgauss and 5 digit sub are good watches that I would love to keep. All the rest are going to be very hard to replace and will require hefty premium. So I wouldn’t sell more but rather save and add

That's a very nice collection. It would be hard to break apart. But I am more of a minimalist, keeping only what gets wrist time makes sense. I like to limit myself to a daily wear, a formal, and a G Shock.

Honestly I have two daily wears looking for a third, so I'm not strict on my rules :)

Some F.P. Journe are superb, though I am still with Rolex due to their robustness, e.g. in term of WR.

So which PM do you want, that would help. That said, I’d move all the ones you said BUT the Pepsi

In fact this is very true. More than 10 years ago I once owned about 15 pieces including all the hot models, then one day I just felt I had too many, so decided to sell all including 6263, 116520, Kermit, 5508, 1016, 14060... The only 2 watches I kept now are the Zenith and 16610. Sadly I reacquired most of them a few years back at greater costs.

That said, this time I still need to let some pieces go, funding issue.

Ok, you’ll need to sacrifice something good so I’d move ONE of the Daytona’s in addition to what you mentioned sans the Pepsi

Love these exercises. Sell the top row plus Tudor plus hulk. Get your platona. Down to six keepers. Bam. Good luck. Consolidation is the best for your mental health.

Oh I’m keeping 2 of my crown for exactly that. But I want something different and Patek quality without being Patek!

Good theory - but from my past experience of wanting to sell/consolidate I would not sell the Pepsi as your only watch with color and GMT. I nearly moved mine and periodically glad i did not. But in the end do what moves you

I don't entirely agree with your choices - sorry.
I think you should definitely keep the GMT. It's your only one. Also the Submariner date and no date. They are both important in their own right. The milgauss can go, so too the Air King. The Tudor and one of the Daytona's.

May I ask what it is you'll be getting to replace all these beautiful watches?

I would liquidate entire top row and the tudor. You are clearly into sports watches but, l would get a pm day/date as a new style and look. Unless of course your lifestyle doesn’t accommodate a more dressy piece.

I am in suits most of the time, but always wear these sport watches with no problem. Though did once had a 1803 WG on bracelet and loved that.

let go of top row except for white Milgauss (your most worn, and also discontinued.)
Let go of Tudor as well
If going for platona add a daytona for the chopping block

That will be a nice mix of modern and classic

If I were you I’d sell that whole top row plus the Tudor. I wouldn’t move the Pepsi if it were me
