The watch you posted is essentially what I would be ending up with. Wanted something more low key and classic for my first one. White face makes it appear larger to me. Leaning towards just going with this, because I like the ExpII also and having a 42mm and a 41mm one day doesn’t seem like it makes sense.

36DJ on my 7.5" wrist. Just a perfect size for this style of watch and looks good on most wrists. I have a Speedy that I also love that is better suited in the 41-42mm size. A good friend tried on my 36 and he has a monster wrist, probably 8.5" +. He wasn't able to lock the clasp even with the extension deployed. I thought it looked great on him and it erased any question in my mind as to whether this reference is "too small".

It would be the 41 for me.
That said, if you don’t need a date, save yourself a couple thousand bucks and check out the OP39.

I also have a 7 1/2 inch wrist. For a DJ, I have a 36mm. It’s a simple, classy watch. Less is more.

Totally agree. Mine is paired with a Speedy Pro which imo is just about the best 1-2 punch you can have (at least in the range for what I paid for them). They balance each other so perfectly that I really can’t see myself getting another expensive piece.

Tried a DJ36 and it looked small on my wrist, the DJ41 looked better so that is what I bought, picture below. But, and it is a big but, we all have different perceptions of what suits us best, it is important that you try the watch on to see how the watch sits on your wrist and how it looks, after all it is you that is going to walk around wearing it not me or anyone else.

Your new watch is going to be an expensive outlay so take your time finding the watch that you really want, not what others want you to have.

Good luck in your search and don't forget to post some pictures when you get your watch.

As we saw recently with the Anthony Bourdain collection going to auction, he rocked a blue dial 34mm Oyster Perpetual Date, which looks fantastic in photos. He wasn’t a small guy, either.

Have you heard of "shrinkage"?
Yeah, over time the watch will look smaller and you will wish you bought the bigger one.
FYI, the DJ41 is not 41mm wide, it is more like 39.5mm.

Update: went back and tried them on again. My AD probably thinks I’m insane... but after going back and trying it on again with a focus on strictly size... the winner is the 41mm. I was in the 36 camp prior to heading in again to try them on, but after seeing the 41 again it seems to fit my wrist the right way.

2018 41mm DJ white index dial, domed bezel, oyster bracelet will be my first Rolex.

Always smart to try the watch on and see it in person. I never considered the DJ until I saw a 41 in a Bucheron window in Switzerland while on vacation and tried it on.

Congrats on the decision. Imho, the DJ41 and the DJ36 (with the roulette date wheel) are *both* cool watches, and I like each for different reasons. But the DJ41s are definitely nicely proportioned, robust, and reflect a perfect mix of sporty and elegant. Be sure to post pics of your new purchase. Mine say hello..

36. Classic size is the best. The same way my ancestors have theirs.

Depending on how your photo was uploaded, sometimes a quote does not show images.
I tried quoting you to see and same happened to me.

My opinion is my own but I think you made the right decision with the 41.

I genuinely think the new DJ 36 126234 is easily a woman's watch. I am a petite girl with a 5.75 inch wrist and the 126234 sits just right. I was genuinely concerned it would look too big on me, but that has not been the case. With the roman dial jubilee combo, it looks feminine to me. My husband who has a 6.5 wrist size wouldn't wear it, too 'tiny", he said. He wears a 40 watch - and I am looking for an Explorer for him.

Congrats on the new watch!

NEVER listen to what others have to say about which one you should get, not even your gf. You're the one who'll be wearing it and looking at it all day.

Bigger ain't necessarily better when it comes to watch design. Some models just look bloated and odd when you take a classic design and blow it up.

Still, it's completely subjective, of course, and I'd urge anybody on the fence to try on both the 36mm and 41mm DJs and see what they actually look like on your wrist without judging based purely on a number.

Here's a new 126234 (36mm) on my wrist, which is just a shade under 7 inches.
I think the new dj36 is perfection

agree, it's as much about wrist size as it is about the style of the watch
