So, let's talk about stickers!

Have stickers on a watch always been a big deal? I don't remember it being so. Would you buy a watch from an AD that had been de-stickered before you saw it?

When did they even start putting stickers on?

Are stickers replaceable?

When I bought my Tudor GMT, the lovely lady destickered the piece, filled my name in on the warranty card, and sized the strap. What would have happened had my card failed to authorize for any reason?

That's never been a big deal for me. The only time I could think of it being beneficial is if your buying a supposedly brand new watch from a grey dealer, that would be some proof of it being unworn.

I personally find them annoying to remove.

Last watch I purchased from a boutique, an AP RO, I took the stickers off. It's just fun when you buy a new watch.

Not a big deal.

I'm still discovering stickers that are on the clasp.

Taking the stickers off is a nice part of buying new IMO.

Unfortunately, there are rumors grey dealers are re-stickering pieces to command a premium.

I have my AD remove the stickers before I leave. I can’t be bothered to find and remove them

I find it interesting the additional premium dealers ask for a watch with stickers, can be another 5-10% on the price especially discontinued models.

It's important that I see stickers on the watch at the AD before I buy it. I don't care who removes them, but it matters that they are on there in the first place.

Thinking back the SA brought out my Sub, stickered, for me to see. She then went off to resize bracelet and was pulling off the last of them as she came back for me to check the fit.

The stickers weren’t a big thing for me and I’m glad someone else did the job of removing them.

My AD usually removes all the stickers after the final fitting.

It depends on the watch. If it was a Sub or GMT....a workhorse, i would care less. But if I was buying a PM that would be worn occasionally, then I would prefer them on.

I agree. Otherwise whose to say that it's not a watch that's been returned by a disgruntled customer. I think for the amount we are paying, we should expect something that's exactly as it came from the factory.

Do you really think that watches can’t be polished and stickers replaced?

There is nothing tackier than people sharing wrist shots of watches with stickers still on them.

If you're at the AD and sharing a quick picture, sure. If you're proudly wearing a watch with the stickers still on it. Gross for so many reasons.

Once watch has been sold the only place for all stickers is the waste bin.

Seriously.
I feel the same way about people who do this with hats. Just take the sticker off!

For someone who is looking to keep a watch as a shelf queen for some future value it is unquestionably of utmost importance. They know that the watch commands a premium with full stickers on. It is shown in the grey dealers, they will also offer better money when buying fully stickered. So stickers are money no doubt, despite contrary opinion. Even if you are looking to wear the watch you would be assured that the watch has never been worn or tampered with if it has the stickers in it.
