Automatic Winder – – which is the best brand?

Hi everyone: avoiding the debate about Winders (i've already decided, I'm getting one, as I just can't keep the watch is in daily rotation without), I'd really appreciate thoughts and guidance on good, safe brands. Thanks for any ideas.

Orbita is top quality but pricey. Wolf are not on the same tier but much cheaper and seem to work well. I personally have two Orbita winders and one Wolf.

Not sure that it's the best but this is a Wolf 2.7. Gets the job done.

Without doubt the best winder is attached to your arms they are called wrists and the only one I would recommend.

Wolf and Orbita seem to be the best brands here on TRF. Brookstone for the money are decent.

Orbita by a mile..... have had all the major brands and no one else even comes close. Buy a nice used one and save a ton of money from the cost of a new one.

Agree with Peter, but if you're bound and determined to get one, I would say Orbita.

Ha! Yep, I get it. But I can't wear 3 at once.

Thanks everyone for the ideas and guidance. Much appreciated!

Read this from a CW21 watchmaker and TRF member, Vanessa CW21:

Okay I'm here to give my 2 cents since I was asked to give an opinion.
I haven't read the responses given, since it's late and I plan on going to bed soon!

I don't like winders.
I don't like them for several reasons:
1) Most people assume they actually wind the watch... No, they keep the watch wound, which means it should still have a good amount of power reserve in order to maintain the power. I get plenty of customers complaining that their power reserve is too short "even though the watch was on the winder all day 3 days prior".
2) Cheap winders MAGNETIZE watches! The motors aren't insulated and cause the watches to start running erratically! I just had one two weeks ago, with a 2 y.o. DJII. A complete service of the movement was required.
3) Unless you're too old, or have some kind of medical condition that prevents you from having the feeling in your fingertips to wind the crown, I don't see a reason to need a winder.
4) I don't like the unnecessary wear it causes the movement. Unnecessary because you're putting wear on the watch while you're not even enjoying it.

In the end, it's all up to you and I'm pretty sure all you TRF'ers know what to expect. I'm mostly having a hard time explaining to people who have absolutely no clue about the inner workings of a watch.

Have one very similar to this one.

It works well and the extra storage on the top of mine is nice.

There are equal amounts people on each side of this argument. Including the watchmakers. Pros and cons to each side of it. I just like the fact that at any time I will have 4 watches (3 on the winder and one on the wrist) ready to go. I also am gone all week traveling for work. So when I get home at the end of the week it is nice to have options ready to go.

Not like it is such a hassle to set and wind the watches but more over a cool way to display and store my collection that I enjoy looking at. Better than sticking them in the gun safe and never seeing them. I would never wear half of them when I did that. Find myself grabbing for a better variety with the winder handy.

Well your watches have a winding crown and guess what its for winding and re-setting the watch,or just let them stop and rest must take all of 30 seconds to wind and reset.

Not vintage watches with no quickset that are 28 days stopped. Round and round and round and round and .... Anyway, not interested in cracking open the debate; just wanted people's thoughts on auto-winders.
