Picked up a new to me Meade LXD55 just before winter. After a by the book cleaning of the corrector plate, primary/secondary mirrors and a collimation it was ready to go. No Batinov mask needed. A zoom focus live view with the D750, some bracketed shooting and I had myself a perfect stack.

Wow, what an incredible shot! I've always been fascinated by all things space related. I'll never forget seeing the moon through a telescope as a kid for the first time.

I read and watch a lot about astronomy but never have bought a telescope. Too much light pollution here in northwest Europe.

Niiiice! Stacking rocks.

Have a SkyQuest 10" light bucket and lots of TeleVue Ethos glass here. Also a 2x and 4x Powermate. Pics below are single pics enhanced by PShop using a Sony A7r2, 2x Powermate and T-mount. Frankly, I need to get a dedicated Astrophotography sensor for pics as the A7r2 is not the best for this use :(

I have an 8" Dobsonian Push-To telescope and a few good eyepieces. I've taken some Moon photos through it with my Samsung phone and they were surprisingly good. The series is last year's eclipse from my phone.

I took these photos with my Nikon D600 and a 400mm lens last week.

And a time exposure of the Milky Way with the International Space Station flying past.

The space station went by at 4:54am this morning but I slept in and missed it. I think it's amazing to watch them zoom by. I get text alerts from NASA when it's visible overhead. Great pictures! I'd probably frame one of the space stations ones, and some moon ones too, beautiful!

Those are great pictures of the moon which is always a good target to start with.

I was big into astronomy and Astro-photography many moons ago. I still have all my equipment, but a young family, a divorce and work meant I couldn’t do as much as I would have liked but now I occasionally go out with the yard cannons when I can, but not like I used to. I even went as far as doing an Astrophysics degree course.

Astro-photography is a devilishly difficult hobby. I once heard it said, ‘If there’s someone you don’t like, get them into Astro-photography and they’ll hate you forever.’ That is such a true statement.

Here’s one of the Astro-pics I took of M27, the Dumbbell Nebula. Taken with a 5” Meade 5000APO using a Cannon 450D Rebel at the time. It took hours to capture all the data for this picture.
