Hey Rolex, bring back the radial dial!

Imagine these sweet long minute radial dials on a modern Date/DJ? And are we ever gonna get brushed lugs on a Datejust again?

Whatever floats your boat but there was a reason Rolex discontinued these dials low sales.

You mean like the first time Rolex discontinued the Stella dials ?

In seriousness, I think the reason we don't see them today is that they probably make the watch wear smaller, and we're just cresting that "huge watch" hill. If they did return, it would make sense for them to do so on the OP/DJ 41, where there's the most blank space. Could help fill that 38mm void.

With some of todays Rolex owners its mostly the hype many buy, and today hype sells watches. And yes back in the 1970s into the early 1980s the stella dials were not the greatest sellers. Different story today again mainly to the internet hype, which was not around back then, but hype today sells watches.

I'm pretty sure with the current demand (hype) for all-things-Rolex, a reissue of that kind of dial would sell just fine!

Personally I've always liked that look, so it'd get a yes from me.

Actually, reminds me a bit of the original 114300 dials a bit, since they had longer sticks, without lume fill, for all but 3-6-9 (which were sticks, but lumed).

I’m sure Rolex could put any dial configuration out and there will be a queue of people to buy it…

I agree, I think they look really nice.

If Rolex is too conservative to reuse them, maybe Tudor might?

I know this isn’t answering your question and it’s only my opinion, but personally that dial makes an otherwise simple to read dial, too busy and cluttered.

Hey Rolex, bring back the radial dial!

May as well ask why BMW doesn’t bring the Mini Mk1 850cc back…

Rolex doesn’t resemble the company that took style risks back in the day…Cooper is non-existent.

The DJ is nothing like it was…nor the Mini.

Rolex marketing was aimed at waterproofness, perpetuity, ruggedness…the 850, fuel and materials economy.

Don’t get me wrong, I like brushed lugs…

Couple months ago I found one, the blue date, available at a trusted german seller, I was undecided to buy it without trying it....I was suppose to visit Germany in a business trip which didn't happened after all, well you know how these things work....stayed available until was not anymore and sold.
Great look, love it.
