Omas vintage Paragon refurb today

picked up a vintage Paragon from our forum friend Jim (jar) some time ago. I had the pen inked with Montblanc Royal Blue. With all these pen acquisitions lately, I may have left the pen inked a bit too long and the feed dried out. The piston had become a little sticky too so I pulled the nib and feed to thoroughly clean and grease the piston. While the pen was apart, I decided to go over the pen and give it a good polish. There were a few nicks and swirls from years of use that I wanted to correct and bring the pen back to its original glory. I started with a cutting compound and a micro fiber cloth. Then moved to a 3m finishing compound. Finally finished with a Zymol polish and a detergent wash. The pen looks and works like new. Really great pen! It's a shame Omas went under. At least ASC is attempting to keep some remnants of the company alive or at least the left over material stocks. Cheers!

That is beautiful and the polishing job is spot on.

I love the arrow nibs Omas used on their pens.

Thank you again Sir! It's a great pen! Super light and a nice ink capacity. The nib is much much different than modern Omas nibs. This nib is dead smooth but doesn't flex much despite the 14kt gold used. The modern 18kt Paragon nibs are more springy but not as smooth save for the Ludovico Einaudi Signature pen. That one has no spring in 18kt but is way smooth. It's fascinating the variation between nibs vs materials used across the brand. You could get lost in just Omas nibs
