Interesting although I don't know if I would ever mess with my watch by performing a DIY, even if it is followed step by step. I don't trust myself.

Is there anywhere one can find good instructions or video for replacing the crystal on the face side?

I have seen it done, but not in a video. There is a pressure testing video posted at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=chfgUuOz6_Y I also have a servicing a DateJust video posted here: http://www.minus4plus6.com (look on the right side of the screen, right click on the video link and download to desktop; its a 4 meg video).
Best, -Sheldon

Yes, the same caseback that fits the 16710 also fits the Rolex Explorer II. The DateJust caseback should fit the Explorer I, but check with the vendor before purchasing.
