A Day at the Spa

Fellow TRF member Phrank and I decided today was the day to visit our local RSC. We both had watches in need of service so the plan was struck. Regardless of the horrible weather we forged ahead.

After getting buzzed into the building, brushing off the snow & ice we arrive at service reception.

Spa Day 1.jpg

The cargo is presented Ultimately the 3 on the right go in as Phrank decides he'll wear the Daytona until his Sub and DD are back from service. My 7 year old Explorer II just stopped on its own a couple of weeks ago. After examination it turns out some of the lubrication has dried out. 4 to 6 weeks before we see these again.

Spa Day 2.jpg

To console ourselves we decide to grab some grub. Spent the better part of the afternoon talking watches, TRF (some ears should have been burning), watches and oh ya ….. watches.
A nice day with a fellow WIS.

RSC Toronto?

I've also gone to Holy Chuck's for lunch while they did their thing (e.g. a light polish, resizing). Excellent burgers.

Was lots of fun, some great conversation was had, and was great to take my two in for a spa treatment.

Was interesting, the watch tech came out, said he didn't think either of my watches had ever been serviced or the casebacks even opened.

After he mentioned the lube had dried out on your 2012 Explorer, figured it was the right decision to bring my two in....in a couple of months, I'll drop the Daytona in as well.

So I'm a one Rolex guy for the next month or two, the Speedy will get some more well deserved wrist time.

Had a great time, thanks Brenngun.

edited to add: Sheesh, you can see the skin flaking from my wrist, the last of my Aruba tan fading away as we lunch in the Polar Vortex!!

Beautiful Day-Date! Is it all original, to your knowledge?

Yes, all original, one owner, "safe queen", when the technician came out after we checked in our watches, he said the Day-Date had never had the caseback opened, no markings that anyone had ever touched it, he was impressed, said it was in pristine condition, was a superb find.

Turning out to be one of my favourites as well, you can wear these pieces anywhere and do anything with them, sometimes I think we forget that with Rolex, they're tanks and meant to be worn and enjoyed.

I spent 10 days in Aruba, in the pool, in the ocean, snorkelling, on the beach, never took it off, was fine...
