I think it's a great looking watch. But, I think they missed on the price point by using the white gold on it.

If you look at the black sub vs the steel daytona, the difference is about 4k. The new 42mm yachtmaster is the same price as the oysterflex daytonas. So Rolex implicitly prices the chronograph movement at ~4k in steel, but 0k in the WG yachtmaster vs. daytona. Maybe a minor point, but seems inconsistent. |

Such a pretty watch. What a waste in WG.

A lot of money for a rubber strap. Can’t get past it to have any other opinions

I like it aesthetically. I know some people are turned off about paying so much for OF, but I think it looks good especially with that bezel. I wish they release it in SS next year. I would definitely add it to my collection.

But then I might be totally not understanding the intended buyer. Someone who buys it to wear once in awhile and has no issue dropping it off at the AD for a new rubber strap every so often. BUT... I was at an actual yacht club the other weekend. Sausalito CA. Lot of very well off dudes. I was the guest of my very well off buddy. A friend of my buddy spotted my watch and he had an older YM. Said, "Yeah, I like it but it doesn't keep very good time." I asked him when he had last had it serviced. "Serviced?" Maybe he figured the shop would contact him when it needed it, like his car? The hour dots are larger than they usually are proportionally even for 42mm. Bigger than they are on the explorer 2 and that might be because I’m not used to it but they look off to me. Not sure why that was intentional

Heck of a lot easier, and cheaper, to throw a SubC on an Everest strap and call it a day.

That shorter glidelock is awesome....
i hope it starts appearing on all SS sports, but thinking that will take YEARS before it happens and the roll out will be super slow. As JackStone said - the new GMTs were just released and they are on easy link clasp so it could be 5-7 years before that short glidelock is introduced to non-divers (or maybe never) |

No one is talking because did $27,000 you have a lot of options. Rolex really missed the mark when they didn’t release this watch is SS at $10k price point.
The AD response would have been the same as all the others. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I never noticed the size disparity between the hour and second hand. Good call Jackson. Here’s a vintage SD and you can see how both hour/second hands are aligned as with all Rolex models. Now that you mentioned it, I can’t stop seeing the pencil thin minute hand!
I do however think the watch is attractive and I’m sure it looks much better in person. |

I don’t think you are alone in thinking that. I don’t see this being a big seller. I imagine if you want one, you will get one quickly. It’s a glorified submariner on oyster-flex. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Big fan of this watch. Sadly, my wrist size doesn’t work well with 42mm watches so it’s not one I shall be buying, but on the right person, this watch is going to look great.

WGYMOF... love it. sign me up
its not going to be as easy to get as people think. Higher price point and also smaller quantity delivered as with all PM. When you wait a year for a WG OF daytona and get offered a SS daytona C twice from the same AD while you were waiting indicates the difference in SS arrivals vs PM arrivals 116655 has a WL at most london AD's prior to this and i think the WG version is even nicer and has upgrades vs the older version of the RG YM. A small WL will take just as long to clear as a bigger WL for a SS sub.

I really don't think that the new WG YM is a bad watch it just lines up several factors that work against it. PM and rubber strap is a limited market at best. Unless you are just into the rubber straps and either have so much money or don't mind the loss you will take it does not work as well as a metal bracelet. The size for me is great but others will find it too large and for the money it does not offer alot of the percieved Rolex PM pop. I will look at this watch in the pre-owned market in a few years at 15-17k but probably will still not buy it at that price.

I may actually go for it, if I am ok with the weight, looks and comfort upn trying it irl. For me, there is noticeable difference visually between SS and WG. Also the price tag should translate to better availability and spare me the hassle of playing the WL game.

i think the size is a blessing in disguise. No end links makes the 116655 wear really small. Much smaller than a sub or a GMT on a bracelet. 42mm and its not going to wear like a 42mm IMO.

Nice looking watch however I would never spend that kind of money on something with a rubber strap.

I like it...a lot. As Tyler said, the 42mm size will help offset the somewhat smaller wearing OF, and the glide lock will offset the difficulty in getting the perfect fit with the OF. It can be tricky, at least IMO anyway. Two genius moves by Rolex.
Speaking of glide lock, how did I miss that they added that to the RG model as well? Must have been asleep at the wheel. Now, having said all that, I'm not sure if there's a spot in the collection for it or not. I guess time will tell... |
