Day-Date 36mm

Hi,

Friday on the Rolex site, I was able to configure an Everose gold, Day-Date 36mm watch, with a diamond dial (pink), fluted bezel, with a chocolate leather strap. (Please see the attached picture)

I went back on Sunday to reconfigure it to add something and it was no longer available. Yesterday I was told that it was just recently discontinued. So now my only hope of getting it from an AD is to find one that already has it in their inventory.

If there are any AD's on the board or if anyone knows of an AD in the US that has one, can you please let me know.

Thanks and I appreciate any help that you might have.

They wrecked the day date. I wanted to pull the trigger on a white gold, blue face 36mm and boom, it’s gone.

From what I was told yesterday, they changed (or discontinued) some of them at the most recent show.

That's unfortunate because I really liked what they had before.

Both the DD36 and DJ36 have suddenly much less dial options, since Baselworld...

Agreed! I was noticing that yesterday. It is such an elegant watch, I hope I can still find what I'm looking for in someone's inventory.

The dial options include more diamonds which suggests this size is being marketed to woman. Really a shame because it is such a classic size watch but I suspect the 36mm traditional dials were just not selling well so the transition to a feminine model size was inevitable.

Seems correct. Probably why the larger DD is 40mm (more universal size for men) vs. the larger DJ at 41 (implying that men are still choosing sizes on that range).

If I bought a DD, I would lean towards the 36. And that is coming from someone with large wrists and hands.

I can easily wear the 40, but it almost seems too in your face. Even more so than the 36.

But, when I am ready to buy a DD I might not have a choice. The classic, champagne, silver and black dials seem to be a thing of the past with the DD, so unless my AD can locate a 36 I might not have a choice.

You can still get a white gold with champagne dial and no diamonds, but you don't get any lume (they're consolidating hands across the range, it seems)...

I would expect that this is not the most common reference to have in the case, and hence assume that you would need to do a serious mail-spree in finding one

Agreed!

So far I have been just picking stores at random off the Rolex site.

I've called stores in California, Texas, Oregon and New Hampshire and none of them has the configuration that I'm looking for. Most of them did not even know that it came with a leather strap.

It would be nice if Rolex had some type of watch configuration locator on their website, which would give you an idea of at least where they last shipped one.

Thanks for the info but nah. YG all the way from me. I'm fully committing here. And no lume is a non starter. I wouldn't mind going used but the price point is not much less then BNIB based on what my AD could do.

I'm sure you're already taking this approach, but make sure not to limit yourself to the brown strap when calling; that's easily switchable. Dial, too, though probably more expensive, but Rolex will swap dials as long as the watch was originally available in the desired configuration.

Well, they're still out there on the grey market:

If they're that easy to find with a web search, I have to believe they are floating around in dealer cases, too.

I was interested to see this too, for the DD36 at least it seems they are going back to the non-lumed design of previous models (though for datejust they are sticking with the lume)

I think Rolex is using the new dials for the new DD36 and DJ36. So people will not mix with the existing model. I believe Rolex will add more dials option when the existing stocks level is low.

All the DD36 dials are all very feminine now. I think they are pushing that men buy the DD40

Looks like they got rid of all the DD36 with leather strap configurations, at least when I looked on rolex.com.

However, some options still seem to appear for now on their site when searched from outside rolex.com:
https://www.rolex.com/watches/day-da...8139-0004.html

I really hope that doesn't mean leather straps are no longer an option on Day-Dates...

I dont know - a DD belongs on the presidential bracelet. That is what its famous for and in my opinion the only way to wear a DD

Just look for an AD with it on hand or buy an used one with a different hand and get RSC to swap it for you (will do it as long as was available for your model)
