Daytona "Beach"??? Remember these?
So what ever happened to the Daytona Beach Series?
I clearly remember when they were released.. and regular Daytona's were much more easily available. Were there just 4 colors? Did anyone here buy one - or maybe even the full set!? Were they limited edition, or just quietly dropped due to lack of interest? I hardly ever see any on the used market. Does that mean no-one bought any... or are they being squirreled away as a future collectible? Just curious, that's all UPDATE: Just found this listing... I had no idea they used STONE dials (or maybe I just forgot?) https://www.phillips.com/detail/rolex/CH080215/193

Cool watches!! Just not my style. Researched these a while ago when a member started modding his Daytona. Aimed towards expanding the market to ladies.

Exactly that but they were quite poor sellers at time of introduction.

Like anything today any products price is only what some will pay, plus there is a old saying a fool and is money are soon parted. And today there must be quite a lot of fools around still, to pay these internet over hyped Rolex watch prices, quoted by today's grey dealers jumping for joy so many fools still around.

Most all retro items seem to find their way back... I bet if DavidSW got a set they would command very high dollars.... good post OP

Yes, they are real. All gold.
I love the green one, but they are selling for lots of money. I see them on eBay from time to time. |

As per Padi, when these were new they were always lingering in dealers’ cases. So that means they’re relatively rare and “retro” now so high price.
My memory of them was mostly “interesting, but no way I’d take one over a conventional SS/gold/tutone Daytona. |

If the intent was to interest women in Daytonas, mission accomplished. I don't know if it was because of these but and including my wife, I see more women wearing Daytonas and larger watches these days.

The color attributes never “clicked” with the target buyers. Like the exotic Panda dials of the 1970’s didn’t click with the racers back then.
Why? Who knows - but rarity in the future will likely cause pristine full sets to double in value in coming years. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

I remember them yes. Like other said not big sellers then.
However if you want one now - and can find it, it’s going to pull a premium. |

Those are cute, great for millionaire girl friends. Rolex can be fun at times, they just do fun in a very exclusive way.

Prices of these already had a much larger jump the last theee years compared to the standard whitegold versions on strap. Resemblance with DD stella dials seem obvious, both in colour and value growth....
(Small detail, rather stupid for a company like Rolex adding the BEACH label for a watch that needs a new 500$ strap as soon as it is submerged in water for three seconds) |

Ugh...everything about these scream “the ‘70’s.”
Reminds me of polyester leisure suits and Ford’s Mustang blunders...
