Never regretted any watch that I bought. They were all purchased at different times in my life & each one gets worn sooner or later.

I bought a Rolex datejust 1601 with aftermarket diamonds all over it, bezel dial lugs. I hadn’t bought a watch for a while and didn’t really know what to buy I was just bored I have worn it once or twice. Looks more like a girls watch too me now. Needless to say it’s for sale. I think you find your own taste after a while and get to know what you like. No more diamonds for me !

Any of the dozen Breitlings I owned early in the watch collecting game. When it came time to move them on.

past watches

I bought and sold mechanical Avia's for a number of years, I came across a Avia Polarstar that had a Japanese Quartz movement, It eventually sold but took time to move it on.

Also prior to my Rolex Submariner I bought a Seiko 7002-7000 A1, I'm pleased they have a huge following as it made life easy off loading the pile of junk

Panerai 389 47mm
Loved the way it looked and felt initially, ended up being to big for me, and uncomfortable
Flipped it for a loss but picked up a BLNR. Happy now!

Omega Seamaster titanium chronograph that watch should have gotten frequent flyer miles for the 7 times it was returned to Omega. Finally had enough and sold it, bought a submariner date that worked flawlessly for 12 years. Sold that at a fantastic profit and got the one Rolex I really wanted the GMT Master ll (BLNR)

I don’t regret my tags because that’s what I could afford at the time, and it was my entry in to watches.
My biggest regret was Tudor Ranger. I thought it would quench my thirst on an explorer. I ended up trading it for a explorer and took a bath. Never once looked back, Explorer is one of my favorites.
My lesson is never try to save money by trying to scratch an itch with something less expensive. Just save and get what you want

Numerous Panerai. All sold before the Panerai crash so I didn’t lose any money. I was (very) lucky.

I actually really like wearing the watch, I think it looks great. However I made several mistakes that led to the purchase. I chose it pretty much on impulse, I didn’t really consider alternatives and most importantly I didn’t do my due diligence. The movement is Cal. 3303 which is pretty notorious as being a bag of bolts that frequently minces itself into oblivion.

The problem is I can’t sell it because I chose it as my wedding gift from my in-laws

I try not to think too hard about the fact that I could’ve been gifted a SubC AND a regular Speedy Moonwatch for the price
I bought the Broad arrow 57 around 10-11 years ago and still think it looks a great watch .
Mine was stolen while I was working in Africa and the insurance paid our nearly double what I'd bought it for so it worked out well for me .

My worst buy was a Breitling , I can't even remember the reference but after a month or so I resold it for a massive loss , the the same price around that time I could have got an Explorer 2

Everest strap (unpopular opinion). I have <$10 straps and an Everest. Excessive $$ for aftermarket strap. Much better quality for sure... but not worth the $$$.

A Sinn U1, bought new in 2007.
IMO the most boring, featureless combination of hands and dial ever created.
My best day with this watch was the day I sent it to its new owner.

Both of my beginner buys:

Omega seamaster “pumpkin” 42mm. Too big for me - not my style after seeing it in person (ordered online). Sold it at a loss, unfortunately.

Breitling chronomat. Sigh. It was from the 90’s and pretty unremarkable. Sold it fir a small profit.

Have learned what i love and built a great collection since.

Same. I don’t get the appeal of this watch in any way.

I wouldn’t say “worst buy” - but I had the BLNR for about a year and wore it only a handful of times before trading it for the SD4K - which was probably the watch I just should have bought in the first place. Beautiful watch - just wasn’t for me.

Worst buy was probably a Panerai - I ditched it for a small profit before they dropped in price on the secondary market - glad I got my money back at the time.

Bought a fake breitling at a casino (indian reservation) when I was 19. Very expensive lesson learned.

I bought a Perrelet Seacraft chrono on impulse. It was a good looking watch but it was way too huge and bulky for my 7” wrist plus was heavy as hell. I never wore it so sold it to a cop who uses it as his daily.

WTF? That’s the worst lowball I’ve heard. How long ago was this?
