Everest Watch Roll - Quick Review

Well, I took the plunge.

After agonizing over the purchase more than I would over a watch, I received my Everest Watch Roll today.

I thought I would jot down some of my thoughts and initial reactions for those of you who might be considering this purchase for yourself.

I bought the 3 watch version in Navy leather with tan interior. I did like the Vintage Brown version, but it was out of stock, and blue was my second choice.

First things first, it does hold my watches! haha

Out of the shipping box, it arrived in a quite nice green 'leatherette' bag with yellow rope ties on top. Very Rolex' style colours. The exterior blue leather is a lovely material, and would suggest its quite high quality.

The interior material is slightly less than dazzling at first touch. It isn't quite suede, and it isn't quite leather. I'm not sure what to make of it at this point. As long as it doesn't scratch my watches I guess I'm happy.

Fit and finish on the outside seems very well executed. Fit and finish on the inside is again, less than perfect. At this price point, I kinda expected perfection, but I understand this really has no impact on the roll's effectiveness. I just wonder about the long term as I plan to use this nightly on my table, and for travel which I do fairly regularly. In the pic below, you can see the glue in between the end panel and side suede component. There also appears to be a micro cigarette burn on the same piece. Again, its fine, but at this price point, I'm not blown away.

The actual watch 'pillows' use an elegant solution. They are bendable depending on your bracelet size and use a sliding track system to drop in and float in the roll.

One issue I've discovered is that when compressed to fit my bracelet size, the pillows are able to slide about in the roll. The slide in track allows the pieces to move up and down. This wouldn't be a problem if I had a large size wrist, but alas, I'm at 6 3/4". This isn't a problem while the roll is stationary at night, but could be when traveling in my carry on. I guess I'll do my best to pack it flat on the bottom of my bag. My worry is that if the roll ended up upside down in my bag, the watches would be rubbing 'bracelet first' on the lid of the roll. This may not be an issue, but I prefer that things don't rub on my watch while I'm in motion. I don't think I'm alone in this thinking!

The pic below demonstrates how tight my wrist size wraps onto the pillow:

I've given this an honest review. When purchasing other products from Everest sometimes I've been happy, and sometimes disappointed. This roll looks the business, and certainly does do what it said it would do; protect my watches.

I'll end this by using an arbitrary rating system.. a nice solid 8.5/10.

I'll likely post an update after a year of use and abuse, and that should be interesting!

If you made it this far, thanks for reading along.

Looks pretty nice.

The interior is made out of fabric suede, pretty standard stuff.

A watch roll with a single long pillow may work better in your situation.

As long as I helped one person, I feel it was worth it!

The info on this roll online was minimal. Of course, Everest has a lot of info but I wanted independent views.

Great review! I once owned this watch roll but had to return it unfortunately because the cushion was to big for my 6 1/2in watch bracelets. If anyone out there has smaller wrists like me and is looking for a good watch roll then check out the Wolf brand watch roll.

very nice...I went with the Wolf because I'm a frugal (cheap) consumer.

Nowhere near the quality of the Everest, but my family still ridicules me for the extravagance.

I can only speak for Wolfs watch rolls but I'd have to say the quality is about on par with this Everest roll.

I returned a watch roll for the same reason! Thanks for this observation and recommendation. Much appreciated!

Thanks for the thoughts. I am a little torn on this issue but I'll give it a shot for now. I may just stuff my watch cleaning cloth in the roll and it will keep them from sliding around when traveling.

This is exactly where I was torn on the purchase. It feels a lot of money to spend on an item like a watch roll. That being said, when keeping $25k worth of timepieces, I'm not really sure it is. Perspective I guess!

I received my vintage brown Everest Roll yesterday(I noticed it was sold out and emailed them to see if they were going to be getting new stock in the future. They checked the warehouse and had 1 left. I guess I got lucky. I had an issue with the pillow sliding up and down on the one on the far right. I switched that pillow with the one in the middle and now they all stay firm in place. I really like this roll, the quality is awesome. I don't have any fit and finish issues on the inside or the outside of the roll. I do wish that the pillows where a little nicer but they will do just fine. The clasp buttons go together very well. I would recommend this roll, I think its great

I bought the last vintage brown that they had! I called when I noticed they were out of them and they called me back to say that they had one left.
One of my pillows was a bit loose as well. I switched the slot it was in and it no longer slides out. Try moving the pillows around to see if it helps you like it did me.

Nice review. Thanks.

It appears to handle a couple of common shortcomings elegantly
*keeps watches separate so they can’t hit each other when being moved about
*solves the removal and replacement of each watch without snaps

Personally, the price is overreaching a bit.

I have the blue and the medium brown (caramel like with blue lining). The blue is matte and supple, while the caramel is glossy and firm. I prefer the supple.

I am looking at bosphorous leather roll. Slightly cheaper compared to Everest and their design seems to ensure that watches won’t move around in the roll.

Agreed on all your comments, including price. That being said, really the price bothered me for the first 2 days, and once the roll integrated into daily life, I forgot about it entirely. To be fair, if you have $30k worth of watches in it, is $375 really that crazy?

I use this thing everyday at home, travel, etc. I really have enjoyed it.

It's a great watch roll. I'm pretty good with my two however. I can't see a need to get another. In truth the $20 Triple Tree one would work just fine for my needs. Strangely I use the Wolf just because I paid more for it.

Thanks for the review. I've heard similar feedback on these watch rolls in terms of the cushions sliding up and down when the watch is on them. To me, that should not happen. The whole point of the roll is keep them safe and secure and there should be no movement going on once they are in place and the flap is buttoned down.

Good tip and a more accurate price point from this manufacturer without the additional ~25% for rebranding

Thanks

Ps knowing the product is made by someone other than Everest, makes it more appealing to me.

This looks like very nice quality but gives up performance in a few meaningful areas.

*when open it appears to obstruct watches or need assistance to keep it open? otherwise taking away that nice display option...
*does it use snaps to keep pillows in place?
