Nib pen ink flow
Anyone use a nib pen? I recently purchased a manuscript italic and poster set and am having a lot of trouble. This problem is hard to describe but I will try my best.
After dipping the nib does not retain any ink, it falls off like water on a greasy plate. When I try to write I get one blotch of ink on the page and then nothing. I am using some basic Parker Quink ink - not sure if this is the issue but I don't see why it should make such a difference. Do I need to prepare the nib somehow? I tried wiping it with dishwasher liquid and also antiseptic (don't have any alcohol) but no luck so far. |

Often dip pen nibs did need to be prepped but I am not the best source for that.

Make sure the dish soap residue is completely gone.
Perhaps stand nib down in a glass of hot water. What’s the nib made of? And what papers have you tried? Got a pic of the pen? Sent from my cracked, broken hand wound phone. IG @morning_tundra |

New I'd find a reverence somewhere. Here is an article on prepping new nibs to get all the oils off.

Thanks will try
This is the pen https://www.cassart.co.uk/drawing/ca...graphy_set.htm I don't understand why they don't put a small note saying preparation required, or just do it themselves in the factory? Or have I completely missed the mark and is there a 'special technique' to write with these pens? |

Just lick it a couple of times and all will be well!
