I've rarely found any bargains in HK but always have a great time hunting and window-shopping.

I wonder what things would be like if in an alternate universe every AD was like this. For example, I have my eye on a Speedmaster Racing Master Chronometer ref. 329.32.44.51.01.001. It really speaks to me but there are 3 reasons that I'm on the fence. It reminds me of my Ultraman, I take a 25% hit as soon as I walk out the door, and it's readily available so I can think about it at my leisure. If the supply and demand was the same for Omega, and my OB called me to say they had one I would probably trip over myself trying to get down there.
I've never flipped a watch so resale isn't the driving force behind my purchases, but it's an interesting dynamic and psychological affect that the current Rolex market has on buyers. For example, if my AD called me today and told me, "I know you're waiting for a CHNR, but I just got this really nice LV and it's yours if you want it", I would at the very least go down to look at it. I wouldn't buy it, but it would be very tempting.

Except Rolex, ap and PP, almost all other major brands ADs look like this, how many buyers?

BTW, many rolex ADs have massive TT DJs and PM models as well :-)

I was in HK a few months back.
Same thing I experienced.
ADs empty cases ... Greys full of hard to get models

I just thought of a Rolex vending machine, put your money/card in, press your selection and the watch falls down to you. No tries-ons and no returns though.

Looks like a pretty standard mid-sized grey Hong Kong grey dealers store front.

Hong Kong is at the heart of the syndicated and artificial supply glut. They know how to do business. No where in the world does treat them mean to keep them keen apply more than in Hong Kong.

Below US MSRP. HK$7.8 to US$1. $33.7k vs $36.8k MSRP. Not outrageous compared to their other prices I am sure.

According to a solid source, most of the grey market watches in HK are coming from the US.

I still remember March 2017. I had stopped in Mong Kok to check out the 116610LV for my friend and was quoted an equivalent of $8,500USD. Oh, how times have changed..
