Keep Me Out of Trouble, Please.
Hello, I am new to Rolex and am hoping you experts can help keep me from making a mistake with a watch I am considering buying.
It is a model M14060M no-date sub. It has a recent RSC service, so likely has been polished and had dial, hands, and bezel replaced, although I am not experienced enough to discern this. Bob’s Watches serial number look-up indicates it is a 2006 or 2007. Not sure how accurate this is. I believe these years should have a no-holes case, but this watch has holes. Of course this is a concern. Here are some photos. Please advise on hour thoughts and valuations. Thank you! |

All do.
All 14060's have holes. That year 16610's have no holes.

Lot of replaced parts. For me, that’s an easy pass. PLUS 14060s are a fab reference and your should get one but they are a dime a dozen. Take your time. Look at 15-20. Trust me, you are not going to miss “the one.” I would also get a full set. Boxes, papers hangtags booklets, the whole shebang. I wouldn’t get one that’s been torn apart like this one apparently has based in all the replacement stuff.

M serial is 2007 or early 2008.

OP might rather have one with replacement parts. I’d rather have a refurbished one, that’s just been serviced, than one that’s beat up. We all have different priorities.

Agreed
Especially if the price is right. There's different ways of looking at it. The reference is not particularly high up in the collector stakes as far as I can see of it and if it has been serviced properly and everything that is needed is done by RSC then it should serv you well. Even if the Mid-case and bracelet have been replaced by RSC, it's had some money spent on it which may indicate it was cherished. For what that's worth Besides, the watch looks like it has Lug holes to me, but you have to look for them in that pic you posted. |

I misread your post. Lug holes is correct though.

Bob's has been around a long time. If it has a recent RSC service and it's the the model your looking for, it's probably as safe a purchase you can make in the pre-owned market.

Well,I’m with you OP… I can’t discern replacement parts polish etc etc.
I enjoy the posts over on the vintage forum as the folks there really know their stuff. Inevitably someone posts a watch they are interested in buying and it’s ripped to shreds I digress. It looks like a fine watch to me, but I’d ask as many questions of Bob’s as you can, and compare to other examples you come across. There are a good number of trusted sellers here that can assist you in finding a pristine example, but you’ll pay for it |

Welcome. Nothing from what you've mentioned would be a concern to me. Lug holes are normal on this reference and if it was serviced by RSC then you are assured all parts are factory.

Welcome to TRF - I think there is a little confusion in my mind when you mentioned Bob’s. The picture you posted doesn’t look like any listing that Bob’s made.
I believe you are looking at a watch that you dated by using Bob’s serial number look-up chart, right? But the watch for sale is actually at another website? When I searched Bob’s listings for a 14060M, I get this: If my guess is right, then my first bit of advice is to be sure it is a reputable seller who has many trusted transactions. As for the watch - there isn’t enough info to assess if it’s a good deal. In general, a refurbished watch with an RSC service should have an international 2-yr warranty (is there a photo of that card in the listing you saw?). But be sure to verify that the seller didn’t mean a “Rolex Service” which could mean any watchmaker who services Rolex. I have had a couple of 14060’s and they are a fine model to start your Rolex pathway. Good luck in your quest. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Not enough information. I would find a complete set from a Trusted Seller.

Looks good! I'd buy it in a heartbeat. I'm down with replaced parts as long as they're genuine replacements.

If they are all in good condition and especially in luminova there should be no reason they’ve been replaced. |

It is neither old or rare. Luminova dial and hands so no particular value difference if new or old but just because serviced doesn't mean they were replaced. BUT... If the dial and hands were replaced on a relatively new watch that could mean something happened that necessitated that and this is worth thinking about.

below is a good reference on the features between 14060 and 14060M ND subs.....
as others have said...research..research..research..is your best defense... I'm looking for a 1994 ND Sub and generated a spreadsheet on all the attributes (even the codes on the bracelet & end links) so I'm well informed when I pinpoint one.... Hope this helps..and good luck with your selection... https://swisswatchtrader.co.uk/blogs...e-quick-review

Correct Kat One of the posters may have jumped to that conclusion. Thus, my attempt to have the OP clarify where he saw the listing. My intent is to clarify before commenting on the watch itself. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Be aware
Of who might have done the work. Joe Smoe at a jewelry store versus a RSC makes a huge difference!

Heres an inverse thought......that goes against the grain of Trusted sellers and it doesnt always work out, but there is something to be said, including pice of mind in buying a one owner watch from the owner who has had it serviced and has all his records, over a watch that while sold from a trusted person has no idea of its backstory. Not a general rule of thumb, but great watches can be found this way as well

Good looking watch.
A service is not an indication that the dial, hands, or bezel were replaced so to say that this is "likely" is not a true assessment. These items are only replaced if they are damaged or missing.

I feel it is an added bonus if RSC recently serviced this watch.
